Tuesday’s news came as a shock to the entire golfing world, including those players on the PGA Tour, who were left in the dark.
PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan sold out, pure and simple.

For the second consecutive year, the Lions are a trendy pick to make a leap into playoff contention. Detroit finished fourth in the league in total offense a season ago, and the NFL rewarded the Lions with a slot in its coveted season-opening Thursday night game against the Chiefs on Sept. 7.
One particularly encouraging element of Detroit’s improvement from 3-13-1 in 2021 to 9–8 in 2022 was the fact that it came with quarterback Jared Goff under center. Many surmised Goff was past his prime when the Lions acquired him in March 2021.
Here’s what we’ve got going on around the league with less than two weeks left in offseason programs …
• This quote from Trevor Lawrence caught my eye—the Jaguars’ quarterback said it in response to a question about having stability year over year for the first time in his career, which allowed him to hit the ground running this offseason.
You gotta love minicamp season in the NFL
New England Patriots fans are hoping that their offense can rebound this season in the hands of third-year quarterback Mac Jones.
After guiding the Patriots to a playoff berth as a rookie in 2021, Jones and the New England offense took a step back last season. The second-year passer finished the year having completed 65.2% of his passes for 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, as New England limped to an 8-9 record, good for third in the AFC East.
That makes just one trip to the postseason since Tom Brady departed for the NFC.
ESPN announcer Mike Breen has one of the most memorable catchphrases in the history of sports broadcasting. His simple but effective “Bang!” has punctuated some of the NBA’s biggest moments, like Ray Allen’s game-tying three for the Heat in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals and Stephen Curry’s long game-winner against the Thunder in ’15 (a rare double “bang” from Breen).
Breen is the voice of this NBA generation, and his calls are just as memorable to players as they are to fans.
Who would have thought the kicker on a team with Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Andy Reid would make the biggest statement while visiting Joe Biden at the White House?
Monday, Biden hosted the Kansas City Chiefs to celebrate their Super Bowl win. During the celebration, kicker Harrison Butker appeared on stage trolling Biden with a pro-life message on his tie.
Butker donned a pin that read the Latin words “Vulnerari Praesidio.” Translation: “For the protection of the vulnerable.
The future is here in Cincinnati. The Reds called up top prospect Elly De La Cruz on Tuesday. Cincinnati is expected to start him on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Where he plays defensively is still a question, however. De La Cruz is a shortstop and a very good one. But the Reds have another former top prospect, Matt McClain, playing the position. McClain could slide to second base — which he did at Louisville, Cincinnati’s Triple-A team — but that displaces Jonathan India.
If you want to subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket without having to pony extra Franklin, then you’d better do it before Wednesday.
Sunday Ticket is now available through Google’s YouTube TV. The tech giant managed to outbid competitors like Amazon and ESPN for the right to be the sole distributor of the NFL’s out-of-market TV package.
The company was offering some special pricing, but that is due to go the way of the dodo soon. While YouTube TV subscribers were getting a deal Sunday Ticket (perhaps because they already pay $72.99).
Yes, this is real — and it’s SPECTACULAR.
We learned earlier this year that Marshawn Lynch would be making his Hollywood debut, but even knowing that we weren’t ready for what happened on Tuesday when Lynch dropped the trailer for Bottoms.

The team behind the movie made Pitch Perfect and Cocaine Bear, so you know EXACTLY where this one is falling tonally.
Al Albert hopped on top of a table, courtside, surrounded as bedlam threatened far more than his game notes. Even for a member of America’s first family of broadcasting, this marked a first (nearly trampled by a court storming) and a most (ridiculous postgame ever).
Backing up a few hours: He never could have anticipated this. On May 13, 1976, the Nets trailed the Nuggets in a basketball finals series by 22 points late in the third quarter. David Thompson couldn’t stop scoring (42 points). Dan Issel couldn’t stop multitasking (30 points, 20 rebounds). The Nets led the series, 3–2.
