The Pittsburgh Pirates have been the biggest surprise of the 2023 MLB season, as they’re currently in first place in the NL Central with a 34-30 record.
One of the biggest reasons for their success has been their star pitcher, Mitch Keller. The right-hander picked up his eighth win of the season on Sunday after giving up just two hits in seven innings of work at home against the New York Mets.
Keller has some really filthy stuff, which Mets center fielder Brandon Nimmo found out about firsthand on Sunday.

Most people mistakenly tackled by security in front of thousands of people would be furious, but not Adam Hadwin. The PGA Tour pro is taking the wild and hilarious moment in stride after being tackled by popping champagne with Nick Taylor.
In case you missed it, Taylor drained a 70-foot eagle putt on the fourth playoff hole on Sunday to win the RBC Canadian Open over Tommy Fleetwood. Taylor snapped a 69-year drought of a Canadian winning the country’s open championship.
As one would expect, pure mayhem ensued after his eagle putt dropped.
Megan Rapinoe boldly claimed Sue Bird might be the greatest athlete in the history of sports, and Twitter didn’t like that at all.
Rapinoe and Bird have been together for years and are currently engaged. It makes sense why she’d want to hype up her partner, but she took things a bit too far.
“Congratulations on, like, arguably the best career that anyone has ever had in the history of any sport ever,” Rapinoe said during a Sunday jersey retirement ceremony for Bird.

Phil Mickelson and LIV Golf have been hit with a federal trademark infringement lawsuit, accused of copying a logo of a skateboarding and lifestyle brand.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court on Thursday, comes from attorneys representing Cool Brand Supply. Cool Brand says it has sold footwear and apparel with a trademarked logo since 2003 that is very similar to the HyFlyers GC logo. Mickelson captains the HyFlyers team.
It wasn’t until after he had dashed 44 feet to his right, after he had slid and after he had backhanded the ball inches off the grass that Phillies right fielder Nick Castellanos realized it was a tough play, his best of the season. It was also not a play he would have made last year.
Seated at his locker a day after he snatched a double from the Mets’ Brandon Nimmo, Castellanos grins. “I was like, ‘Wow, good job, Nick!’” he says.

He has merited a lot of praise this year.
The term “breakout” has different meanings for different people in the world of fantasy football. Some folks believe it’s simply a player who will outperform his draft position. Others think it’s an established player who emerges into a regular fantasy starter after never having reached that sort of status in the past.
In my opinion, both definitions are true but with a caveat. I don’t see a player as a breakout candidate if he’s already reached his “statistical ceiling” during his career. For example, Justin Herbert or Najee Harris aren’t “breakouts” to me.
New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson once again drew the ire of former adult film actress, and apparently former flame, Moriah Mills as she posted alleged texts between herself and the NBA player and continued to rant about him on Twitter.
Mills, who is now a hip-hop artist and calls herself Moriah M, made the initial claim she was in a relationship with Williamson after his girlfriend announced earlier in the week the two were expecting a baby.
It’s never too late to chase your dreams. Or in Brandon Crawford’s case, it’s never too late to prove that one of the hardest things to do in sports is just a walk in the park.
Crawford spent his entire 12-year major league career at shortstop until Sunday, when he took the mound to close out a lopsided Giants win against the Cubs—and didn’t allow a single run. After the game, Crawford took a fun shot at his pitching counterparts.
“I always give pitchers a hard time about it not being that hard,” said Crawford, who touched 90 mph with his fastball.

F1 is back this week with the Canadian Grand Prix, and here are the major storylines to watch
After a week off, Formula 1 is back this week with the Canadian Grand Prix. While there was concern early last week about whether the race would go forward, due to widespread wildfires raging through Canada, F1 calmed fears late last week about the Grand Prix taking place.
As the grid heads to Montreal, what are the major storylines to follow this week? Let’s dive in.
The Rangers host the AL West-rival Angels Monday night in Arlington, and we are grabbing the value for the home team on the run line.
Not only is Texas averaging the most runs per game in MLB this year (6.25) and 6.00 runs per game in June, they absolutely mash lefties with an .826 OPS (third), .298 batting average (fifth), and .462 SLG (fourth). That’s not great news for Tyler Anderson, who gets the start for the Halos.
Anderson has a 5.62 ERA this season and he has allowed 10 earned runs across his last two starts (nine innings). Batters are hitting .300 or better vs.
