Diving into just how close it was between Verstappen and Piastri in the F1 Sprint Shootout
For the second day in a row, a qualifying session at the Belgian Grand Prix came right down to the wire, and for the second day in a row it was Max Verstappen who did enough at the end to take the top spot.
Only in Saturday’s F1 Shootout, it was just a matter of inches.
In Friday’s qualifying session for the Belgian Grand Prix, Verstappen edged out Charles Leclerc by 0.820 seconds at the very end of Q3.

Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje face off for the BMF title Saturday night.
The New York Yankees are realizing the hard truth that one player cannot suddenly make everything better.
After being out with a toe injury for nearly two months, Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge returned to the lineup on Friday night. And despite getting on base three times (via walks) it still wasn’t enough as the Yankees would end up losing in the the end to the first place Baltimore Orioles 1-0.
And therein lies the problem.

The legend of Katie Ledecky continues.
The U.S. swimming star won her hallmark race, the 800m freestyle, in eight minutes and 8.87 seconds at the world championships in Japan on Saturday. She now owns the 29 fastest times in history in the event.
Ledecky’s gold also broke her tie with Michael Phelps, as Saturday marked her 16th individual swimming title.
In total, Ledecky captured two gold medals (800 m and 1500m freestyle) and two silvers (400m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relay) at the event.
“It was special,” Ledecky told NBC on Saturday. “I’m happy with that swim.
New York hasn’t even made the playoffs since the 2010 season — the longest drought in the NFL. But with QB Aaron Rodgers in the fold, the Jets have great expectations.
Bears rookie offensive tackle Darnell Wright aced his conditioning test at training camp earlier this week.
In normal circumstances, it’s bigger news if a projected starter fails his conditioning test. This one’s a bit different though.
Wright “crushed” the test according to general manager Ryan Poles. Why? Because he trained for the wide receivers’ version of the test by mistake, instead of the one for offensive linemen.
“I was looking at the wide receivers’ portion of the workout, so I was doing theirs,” Wright said.
Saturday’s Group F matchup between France and Brazil lived up to its billing, with the two heavy hitters going pound-for-pound, as Les Bleus charged to a 2–1 win in the Women’s World Cup. The victory—spurred by two France veterans, Eugenie Le Sommer and captain Wendie Renard—was a powerful statement following Les Bleus’ scoreless draw against Jamaica.
Fans packed Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane Australia, and made their presence known throughout the match—the Brazil contingency particularly visible, coating the venue with canary yellow and green.
Based on their performances so far at the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, here’s our Power Rankings of all 32 teams.
It’s funny what happens as people get older. They either feel more confident and more content with who they are as a person, or they say “the heck with this” and just let out their thoughts.
For the 39-year-old Max Scherzer, he is choosing all the above after he publicly said that he wants to speak with the New York Mets over some questionable recent transactions the team has made, including trading away their closing pitcher David Robertson earlier this week.
“I probably have to have a conversation with our front office,’’ Scherzer told reporters on Friday.
Lance Lynn bid the White Sox adieu Thursday, and commented on his relationship with Rick Hahn and the front office.
