Liberty University upset No. 2 UCLA in the 2023 NCAA softball regionals on Saturday, 2-1, ending the Bruins’ season in surprising fashion.
UCLA finished the regular season with a 52-5 record, one of three teams with 50 wins and behind just No. 1 Oklahoma (51-1 in regular season) for the best record in the country. The Bruins are hosting a regional that also includes San Diego State, Liberty and Grand Canyon, but they lost to the Antelopes on Friday, 3-2, and the Flames on Saturday, becoming the first regional host eliminated from this year’s tournament.

Upgrades deferred, the importance of qualifying, and other storylines to watch in this week’s Monaco Grand Prix
After an unplanned week off, thanks to the cancellation of the 2023 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Formula 1 is back this week. The destination? The streets of Monaco and Monte Carlo for the Monaco Grand Prix.
Considered the “Crown Jewel” of the F1 season, Monaco combines glitz and glamor with some of the most iconic settings in the sport.
There is nothing worse than when an umpire makes the game all about himself, which is exactly what happened in the AAC on Friday. UCF hosted Wichita State in Orlando for the final three-game regular season series of the year.
The Knights took Game 1 as part of a doubleheader on Friday morning but didn’t find the same success in Game 2 later that night. They fell behind 12-7 after giving up four runs in the top of the ninth inning and had three outs to get them all back.

As if Michael Block’s PGA Championship week couldn’t get any better, now he will get to play with Rory McIlroy in the final round.
As if Michael Block couldn’t get more relatable, his reaction to discovering he would play with Rory McIlroy during the final round of the PGA Championship was absolutely priceless. He couldn’t believe it and kept asking if the reporters were joking with him or if it was real life.
It is real life; his reaction is how anyone with a pulse would react to playing with McIlroy for the first time.
Trevor Bauer eventually settled in to his fourth minor league start in Japan, but the first batter that he faced took him way deep. It was a moment of panic, to say the least.
Bauer, the 2020 NL Cy Young Award winner, has not pitched in the MLB since 2021. He placed on administrative leave amid an investigation into significant sexual assault allegations and was later suspended per the league’s domestic violence policy.
Although the once-dominant ace never faced any criminal charges and maintains his innocence, no team was willing to sign him in 2023 after his reinstatement.
Every time the Lakers plugged a hole in the dike, the Nuggets only seemed to come back with a sledgehammer.
Through three games of a Western Conference finals series, in which Denver holds a commanding 3–0 lead after 119–108 win, Los Angeles has found different ways to defend the Nuggets’ rollicking offensive attack.
Two-time MVP Nikola Jokić dominated Game 1 in historic fashion, prompting the Lakers to seek a counter defensively with Rui Hachimura the following contest.

Jordan Spieth made the cut right on the line to play the weekend at the PGA Championship, and despite him fighting a wrist injury, he insists it’s okay.
Jordan Spieth has not had a great time at Oak Hill Country Club, but with one round of play left, at least his wrist seems to be in better shape. After withdrawing from the AT&T Byron Nelson last weekend, it was uncertain whether he could go full force at the PGA Championship.
Phoenix Mercury coach Vanessa Nygaard was baffled that Brittney Griner’s first game of the season wasn’t sold out.
The Mercury traveled to Los Angeles for the WNBA opener and it was Griner’s first game since she was released from Russian custody following a Soviet-style show trial on drug charges.
It was such an important night for the WNBA that Vice President Kamala Harris even made an appearance, and 10,396 fans bought tickets to attend the game at Crypto.com Arena.
However, it wasn’t a complete sellout, and that seemingly fried Griner’s coach.

The upcoming LeBron James film “Shooting Stars” looks unbelievably bad.
The Peacock movie will chronicle James’ rise to superstardom in high school at St. Vincent–St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio.
James was the top prep player in the country and faced unbelievable expectations before playing a single second of NBA action. His prep career is genuinely interesting whether you like him or not, but “Shooting Stars” looks like a parody of a bad “SNL” sketch, judging from the trailer.
“Shooting Stars” about LeBron James looks like hot garbage.
