The Celtics are on the brink of elimination from the NBA playoffs after getting blown at home by the 76ers in a pivotal Game 5 that was never really close.
Before the game, Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal got into a heated argument about the final play of Game 4 that saw Boston run out of time before getting off what would have been a game-winning shot at the end of overtime.
Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla took a lot of heat for not calling a timeout in the final seconds and later admitted that he made the wrong decision.
That decision set Barkley and Shaq off.

Once upon a time, the NFL schedule was something quietly released. It was a footnote, something people learned about in preview magazines on newsstands.
Over the years, the schedule release has become one of the league’s biggest dates. We already know which teams are going to play against each other and where those games will be played. What we don’t know is the dates for each game and which teams will populate the Sunday night, Monday night and Thursday night slates.
Below, we’ll keep track of all the breaking news before the schedule is officially announced at 8 p.m. ET.

In just his sixth season in the major leagues, Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani continues to amaze, quickly cementing himself among the greats to ever play the game.
In a lot of ways, it seems silly to anoint him as one of the best players ever this early in his career, but what he’s accomplished both at the plate and on the mound has been eye-opening.
Tuesday night was another reminder of just how special Ohtani is as a player. In the Angels’ 3–1 loss to the Astros, Ohtani pitched seven innings, giving up three earned runs on six hits while striking out seven.

One of the league’s biggest rivalries has developed between AFC stalwarts the Chiefs and the Bengals over the last few seasons.
Between wild regular-season matchups and pivotal playoff games, the two teams, led by respective star quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow, have played plenty of meaningful games while shattering television ratings in the process.
The NFL must’ve had this in mind when it scheduled Cincinnati and Kansas City in a prime slot for next season’s regular-season meeting, as the two teams will square off at Arrowhead Stadium at 4:25 p.m.

Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka were crowned men’s and women’s champions at the Madrid Open last week. Instead of focusing on their victories, some folks seem to have taken issue with a number of things that took place during the tournament.
An all-female crew of ball girls worked men’s matches during the Open and some didn’t appreciate their attire. The ball girls wore tennis skirts, a crop top collared shirt, and a hat. After complaints, the ball crew elected to change their outfits.

On June 17, 1994, hours before the slow-speed chase involving O.J. Simpson would captivate the entire nation, more than one million New Yorkers clad in blue, red and white abandoned work, school and other responsibilities to descend upon lower Manhattan to celebrate the Rangers’ first Stanley Cup in 54 years.
The Knicks, under the same corporate umbrella as the hockey franchise, had a number of executives at the victory parade—not only to commemorate, but also to take logistical notes in case they managed to win the ultimate prize.

Nikola Jokić and the Nuggets blew out Kevin Durant and the Suns in Tuesday night’s pivotal Game 5 and are now a win away from advancing to the conference finals.
Jokić, the two-time reigning NBA MVP, had another monster night for Denver, finishing with 29 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists. His triple-double moved him ahead of Wilt Chamberlain for the most by a center in the playoffs.
Ernie Johnson gave him that news during a live postgame interview with the NBA on TNT crew and Jokić took a playoff shot at Shaq about it.

Until Kevin De Bruyne scored a great goal to tie the match at 1-1 in the 67th minute, Manchester City fans didn’t have too much to cheer for in the team’s first-leg Champions League match against Real Madrid. That changed after the goal, however, and Erling Haaland’s dad, Alfie Haaland, celebrated accordingly.
In fact, Haaland’s dad may have cheered a little too hard.
Video showed the elder Haaland taunting Real Madrid fans at the Bernabeu after KDB’s goal.

Malik Willis’ time with the Tennessee Titans might be nearing a rapid end.
The Titans drafted Will Levis early in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and with Tannehill remaining on the roster for the time being, the former Liberty star might be heading for the exit.
“Malik Willis, a third-round pick last year, is the odd man out as long as Tannehill is on the roster. Levis is going to be on the team, and the Titans don’t typically keep three quarterbacks on the 53,” Fox Sports’ Ben Arthur wrote Tuesday.
