Major League Baseball has a few umpires that fans know by name, which isn’t a good thing for those guys in blue because it typically means they are not good at their jobs.
Phil Cuzzi is one of those umps, and over the weekend he had another moment that had fans fuming about the way he handled a situation.
Cuzzi, who threw Mets star Max Scherzer out of a game earlier this year, was the home plate umpire in Sunday’s Astros-Mariners game in Seattle. Cuzzi didn’t like what he saw from Astros pitcher Matt Gage and called him for a balk.

Max Verstappen has earned himself a new nickname: Miami Max. Formula One returned to the United States for the first of three 2023 races this weekend at the Miami Grand Prix, and the Red Bull driver found himself at the top of the podium for the second year in a row.
After its debut on the calendar last season, Miami was once again host to the pinnacle of motorsport at a circuit built around the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
Colts owner Jim Irsay isn’t happy about the Washington Commanders meddling with Andrew Luck.
A recent report claimed the Commanders called Luck to see if the former first overall pick would be interested in strapping on the pads again.
Luck abruptly retired from the Colts shortly before the 2019 season.
Washington Commanders Called Andrew Luck Last Season To See If He Would Play For Them
Well, any team hoping to sign Luck is in trouble because Jim Irsay isn’t having any of it.
Baseball is filled with quirky and archaic traditions that sometimes feel outdated. But there’s nothing like a good old-fashioned national anthem standoff. Unfortunately, however, this one proved to be costly.
Ahead of Saturday’s matchup between the Red Sox and Phillies in Philadelphia, Boston reliever Kutter Crawford and former teammate Matt Strahm, now with the Phillies, were fined and ejected for a rather long standoff. The amount of the fines have not been reported.
Here’s every matchup and the times for the first round.
This has been a legendary and historic NHL season. The Boston Bruins became the winningest regular season team of all time, while Connor McDavid transcended his own consistent dominance to become the first player to register 150+ points since Mario Lemieux in 1995-96.
These 2022-23 Stanley Cup Playoffs are the end of an era too. This is the first time since 2007-08 that the playoffs won’t feature Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin, with the Penguins and Capitals getting squeezed out in the Metropolitan Division.

Harden comes up clutch for Sixers in 115-114 overtime win over Celtics
Down two late, James Harden worked around some screens to find Al Horford, a matchup he liked enough to drive on. He got to a middle-of-the-lane floater that floated its way in, tying the game. Looking at the winners and the losers from the Miami Grand Prix
Five races into the 2023 F1 season the song remains the same.
Red Bull is in a class by themselves, and the rest of the field is playing catch-up.
Thanks to a charge through the field from Max Verstappen Red Bull locked out the front row for the fourth time in five races, with Verstappen finishing ahead of teammate Sergio Pérez.
They are certainly a story, but there are some other winners — and losers — to discuss as we look back at the 2023 Miami Grand Prix.
The Suns evened up their Western Conference semifinal series, 2-2, with the Nuggets with a thrilling 129-124 victory at home Sunday night in a game that featured one wild moment that could lead to some trouble with the league for Denver’s Nikola Jokić.
Phoenix once again was led by its two stars—Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, who both finished with 36 points. The two came up huge in Games 3 and 4 at home and now head back to Denver in a series that very well could go the distance.
After the game, Shaquille O’Neal had a message for Booker on TNT’s tremendous postgame show.
Harrison Butker, the two-time Super Bowl-winning kicker of the Kansas City Chiefs, returned to his alma mater of Georgia Tech over to the weekend to give a commencement speech. The 27-year-old shared a powerful message along with some words of wisdom to the class of 2023.
Butker is a married man, father of two, and devout Catholic and spoke about his faith and the importance of family during his speech, which is considered controversial by some folks these days.
Early in his speech, Butker said he planned to “pop off some hard truths.” And that’s exactly what he did.
