File these under things we didn’t expect this season: The 49ers have a three-game losing streak, and the Chiefs no longer have a winning streak against the Broncos.
More upsets occurred in Week 8 of the NFL season, such as Kansas City losing to Denver for the first time in eight years. But the Bengals’ road win vs. the 49ers shouldn’t qualify as one of them. Yes, technically the Bengals were four-point underdogs, but they’re never truly underdogs with a healthy Joe Burrow.
We learned plenty about the Bengals and 49ers during their Week 8 clash.

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. No surprise there. Baltimore entered the game with a 5-2 record against one-win Arizona. Lamar Jackson vs. Josh Dobbs.
Despite playing on the road, the Ravens closed as 9.5-point favorites over the Cardinals. That didn’t look great early, as the Cardinals scored a touchdown on the first possession of the game.
But, Arizona didn’t score another point in the first half. In fact, they didn’t score a point until there were less than seven minutes left in the game. At that point, the Ravens had built a 24-7 lead.

Before the season, we imagined a kind of market-shattering selloff for lottery tickets in the Caleb Williams sweepstakes. The reality, as we noted in our companion piece, is far more complicated. There aren’t a ton of teams that should be viewing this as a realistic possibility. This is, like most years, less of a vehicle to attain a higher draft status and more of an exercise in getting the most capital out of assets who no longer add significant value to the team as presently constructed.

What we saw from the Cincinnati Bengals and San Francisco 49ers on Sunday are two teams with Super Bowl aspirations headed in polar opposite directions.
The Bengals beat the Niners, 31-17, at Levi’s Stadium.
But the score here is not the story. The direction these teams are on now is the thing.
The Bengals have won three consecutive games. And that’s a big deal for a team that opened the season with two consecutive losses and three losses in their first three games.
“It was a great team win,” quarterback Joe Burrow said.

The Milwaukee Bucks invited rapper Flavor Flav to sing the national anthem ahead of Sunday night’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, and he put on quite a show.
There have been plenty of big swings in the history of the national anthem being played at sporting events.
On one side of the scale, there is Marvin Gaye at the 1983 NBA All-Star Game, at the other end is Fergie’s rendition at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game.
