The continued march toward a future with monthly AEW pay-per-views continues with this Sunday’s WrestleDream from the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle—a show that once again has as much intrigue for reasons outside the ring as inside it.
However, that intrigue isn’t for a negative reason. In a recent promo for the event, AEW head Tony Khan said that on Sunday “an era will end and a new era will begin,” which got Wrestling Twitter all abuzz.

Justin Thomas held his own down the stretch at the Ryder Cup on Friday; Jordan Spieth, however, did not.
After the Europeans embarrassed the Americans Friday morning, 4-to-0, Captain Zach Johnson turned to Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas in the opening group of afternoon four-balls.
Spieth and Thomas drew a difficult match, as they took on Viktor Hovland and Tyrell Hatton—two of the best players on Team Europe.

The college basketball world has big expectations for Rick Pitino going into his first season as coach at St. John’s. 
Returning to the Big East after three seasons at Iona, Pitino is hoping to lift the Red Storm to the success he achieved at Kentucky, Louisville and his first Big East stop, Providence. His teams regularly qualify for the NCAA tournament, and seven of his squads have advanced to the Final Four. 
Pitino also has two national championships on his résumé, cutting down the nets in 1996 and 2013.

• Let’s get this out of the way—Justin Jefferson is going nowhere.
I feel like an idiot even having to type those words, but after he addressed the idea that Minnesota could offload players ahead of the trade deadline (which is still a month away), that’s something I at least wanted to make a couple of calls on. And I can say the Vikings aren’t going to entertain trading him. So if you root for a team that could use him, and a lot of teams could, forget it. If you see someone doing a trade destinations blog post, ignore it.
