The 2023 British Open is off and running at Royal Liverpool, and while there’s already been a number of cool golf shots, there’s been one thing that’s annoying fans trying to watch on TV: the constant barrage of commercials shown on the broadcast.
NBC Sports is once again airing the tournament across Peacock, USA Network and NBC. Thursday morning’s early first-round coverage has been an onslaught of commercial breaks, which has made it very frustrating for viewers. This isn’t anything new, but it does make it very hard to watch.

The New Zealand police have confirmed that three people are dead following a shooting in downtown Auckland just hours before the opening match of the Women’s World Cup. New Zealand and Australia are co-hosting the tournament.
Police shared that the situation was contained to one building under construction close to a World Cup fan zone that had not yet opened for the day. Norway’s team was staying in a hotel near where the incident unfolded.
The summer months are here, and fantasy football mock drafts are running wild across the world wide web. We’re part of the party, too, as the Sports Illustrated fantasy team has already held a traditional PPR mock and a 10-team mock, which you can find in our in-depth 2023 draft kit. For our latest mock, our squad and some industry pals got together for a 12-team, 13-round mock two-quarterback league. We utilized a basic scoring system with a full point for all receptions (PPR).

The Tour de France is more than a race, it is an event, and the fans make it that way
The 2023 Tour de France is in its final week, and as the riders close on Paris, it would seem the issue of general classification is all but settled. Thanks to a “time trial of destruction” from defending champion Jonas Vingegaard on Tuesday, followed by another impressive ride in the mountains on Wednesday, Vingegaard now has a lead of over seven seconds over his biggest rival, Tadej Pogačar.
Although the 76ers would surely love to hold as much of a loaded market as possible for James Harden following his trade request, the opposite is slowly proving to be the case. While the early potential interest in a deal almost certainly included more potential suitors, Harden’s apparent desire to head to Los Angeles has impacted his stock.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Harden “absolutely” wants a trade to the Clippers, and “rival teams view it as the only real path” to a deal.
No U.S. women’s national team player has embodied irreplaceability in recent years quite like Julie Ertz. The 31-year-old stepped away after the Tokyo Olympics, giving birth to her first child with husband Zach Ertz in August 2022, and in her absence the team’s midfield struggled. Coach Vlatko Andonovski experimented with several solutions at the No. 6 position, but it’s become clear that the defensive midfield role, as the U.S. sets up now, is made in Ertz’s image.
The NFL is back, as several teams had their respective rookies report for training camp this week.
The defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs are one of those teams. Kansas City is quite excited about the speed and elusiveness of wide receiver Rashee Rice, who was selected with a second-round pick out of SMU.
When speaking with the media this week about his first week of training camp, Rice went off-script with a hysterical answer regarding conditioning.
“I told them, ‘to be honest with y’all, I don’t mind puking,’” Rice said, per ArrowHeadPride.com.
As we await the first episode of the Jets’ Hard Knocks series, it’s important to remember one truth while we argue over how welcoming (or not) the team should be to cameras: No team owes Hard Knocks anything.
It’s no secret that the Jets were less than welcoming to the idea of hosting Hard Knocks. ESPN reported some of the specifics earlier this week. I’ve heard from coaches who have, when approached by HBO in previous years, promised to make life so miserable for the documentary crew that they opted to go in a different direction.
