The Lionel Messi era at Paris Saint-Germain appears to be coming to an abrupt end.
According to ESPN’s Julien Laurens, Messi and PSG have come to a mutual agreement to not extend the Argentine star’s contract beyond this season, making him available on a free transfer this summer. The 35-year-old signed a two-year deal with the French giants in 2021 with an option for a third year, which will not be activated.
The news comes one day after PSG reportedly suspended Messi for two weeks following his unauthorized visit to Saudi Arabia, where he is a sponsored cultural ambassador.

Trainer Saffie Joseph leaned against the outside wall of his barn at Churchill Downs on Wednesday morning and expressed a confused bereavement. Two of his racehorses had collapsed and died in the first two days of the spring meet at the racetrack, sudden tragedies that are, for now, without explanation.
“It shatters me,” Joseph says. “The odds of that happening twice, it doesn’t add up. Theories aren’t going to help anything. We need facts. … Twice, in three days? First two runners [of the Churchill spring meet]? Same owner [Ken Ramsey]? It’s mind-boggling.

Former NBA player Stephen Jackson did not agree with Memphis’ handling of the situation involving Brooks and his free agency this summer.
“For me, I think it’s bulls—,” Jackson said on the I AM ATHLETE podcast.

Draymond Green defended Jordan Poole’s decision to take a deep late-game three-pointer that could have tied Game 1 of the Lakers-Warriors semifinal series on Tuesday night.
With less than 10 seconds to play in the fourth quarter, the Lakers double teamed Stephen Curry near the right wing. Curry dished the ball to Green, who found a wide-open Poole well beyond the arc on the left wing. Instead of stepping closer to the three-point line or attempting to create a better scoring opportunity, Poole launched the three-pointer that bounced off the rim, leading to the Warriors’ 117–112 loss.

The 76ers stole Game 1 at TD Garden on Monday without Joel Embiid and now have an opportunity to take a 2–0 lead Tuesday night with their MVP back in the lineup.
The Celtics are favored, as it has been in all seven postseason games so far, though the East’s No. 2 seed has lost its last two games in front of the home crowd. The underdog spot served Philadelphia well in the series opener, though the spread is closer with Embiid, the league’s top scorer, expected to make his return.
