After trading Aaron Rodgers, the Packers entered the 2023 NFL draft with a lack of depth at quarterback. Jordan Love will start, but the only other quarterback on the roster is journeyman Danny Etling.
Green Bay addressed that need on Saturday. The Packers selected Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford with pick No. 149 in the fifth round of the draft, which came as a bit of a surprise to most, as Clifford wasn’t even invited to the scouting combine.

We ready for the return of cocky Baker Mayfield? Doesn’t matter, because Bruce Arians and the Tampa Bay Bucs are!
Arians gave Baker the green light to “talk sh*t” earlier this week, saying he prefers his quarterbacks have a little edge to them between the hashes.
Who’s feeling dangerous??
“He comes off as cocky, and he has to be,” Arians said. “He’s a chip-on-his-shoulder kind of guy, and I love that. I wanna guy that’s gonna talk sh*t — and Kyle (Trask) will do it too. That’s what I like about Kyle, he don’t back off either.
Typically, LeBron James does not involve himself in verbal sparring matches with other NBA players.
However, following the Lakers’ 125-85 rout of the Grizzlies to clinch their first-round series in Game 6 on Friday, the four-time NBA champion flexed his muscle on social media and took aim at Memphis forward Dillon Brooks.
After the Grizzlies’ won Game 2 on April 19, Brooks called James “old” and added that he “poked” bears. “I don’t respect no one until they come and give me 40,” he added.
Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett is officially entering the NFL, as the two-time NCAA champion is headed to the Rams after being taken in the fourth round. Bennett will backup another former Bulldog in Matthew Stafford, as the two are currently the only quarterbacks on the Rams roster.
Entering day three, Bennett was arguably the biggest name remaining, and he was certainly the most successful signal-caller, so the NFL world was waiting to see where he would go.
Jayson Tatum offered up an apology to pop star Janet Jackson for the way the Celtics-Hawks series ended — and Jackson appears to have accepted.
As soon as the Lions drafted running back Jahmyr Gibbs Thursday night, it seemed to mark the end of D’Andre Swift’s three-year run in Detroit. Sure enough, the Lions traded Swift to the Eagles on Saturday. Philadelphia sent a seventh-round pick (No. 219) and a 2025 fourth-round pick to Detroit in exchange for Swift and a seventh-round pick (No. 249).
The move is good news from a fantasy standpoint for both Swift and Gibbs, though more for the latter. The Lions now have Gibbs and free-agent signee David Montgomery in their backfield.
After three consecutive wins, and with a chance to close out their first-round series at home against the Kings, it would have been fair to expect the defending-champion Warriors to take a businesslike approach in eliminating Sacramento in Game 6 on Friday night.
The reality turned out to be much different than many people’s expectations, though.
With the Kings’ surprisingly breezy 118-99 victory at Golden State, Sacramento punched its way to a winner-take-all Game 7 on Sunday afternoon.
Paige VanZant woke up earlier this week and decided to start her day with a social media heater, along with a quick morning lesson: don’t forget where you came from — or, perhaps, where you’re going.
The MMA and bare knuckle star was in a retrospective mood Thursday, reminding her millions of social media followers not to “block your blessings” while donning next to nothing in her back yard.
She was also holding a jean jacket for some reason, but clearly had zero intention of wearing it.
What a way to end the week!

Miami of Ohio women’s basketball coach DeUnna Hendrix stepped down on Wednesday. And now we know why.
Hendrix reportedly resigned from the position amid an investigation into an inappropriate relationship she had with a player. The school began looking into the situation after Athletic Director David Sayler became aware of a series of intimate text messages exchanged between the two.
The correspondence included a “string of over 180 text messages spanning an 11-day period.” According to The Athletic, more than 30 of those messages were intimate in nature.
D’Andre Swift trade rumors have bubbled up throughout the NFL draft, after the Lions used the No. 12 pick to select Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs. On Saturday, as with the fourth round underway, Detroit found a trade partner for the former Georgia star: the Eagles, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
According to Schefter, the Lions receive a 2025 fourth-round pick and will move up from No. 249 to No. 219 in Saturday’s seventh-round in a pick swap.
As Schefter notes, the 24-year-old Swift is a Philadelphia native, making the deal a homecoming for the newest Eagles rusher.
