The United States men’s national soccer team’s search for a permanent head coach reportedly appears to be nearing its end, following the news of Gregg Berhalter’s imminent return to the post he’s commanded since 2018.
Berhalter, whose contract expired following the 2022 World Cup, is currently in talks with the U.S. Soccer Federation on a deal finalizing his return as manager, according to a report from The Athletic. 
Thursday’s report broke just as reigning champion USMNT and interim coach B.J. Callaghan kicked off a CONACACAF Nations League semifinal matchup against Mexico.
