The Nuggets and Heat took opposite paths to the NBA Finals.
Denver won the West for the first time ever as the No. 1 seed while Miami emerged from the East as the No. 8 seed after an appearance in the play-in tournament. The Western Conference Finals were over quickly, as the Nuggets swept the Lakers to clinch their championship berth. The Eastern Conference Finals, however, went the distance and the Heat ultimately blew out the Celtics on the road in Game 7.
Miami has been in the underdog role throughout the postseason and continually pulled off upset after upset.

Teutonia Ottensen, a lower-level professional soccer team in Hamburg, Germany, has been punished after stopping a match to protest alleged racism directed at team captain Marcus Coffie.
With his team leading Bremer SV 2-1 in a fourth-division game over the weekend, Coffie, who is black, said he was racially abused by an opponent. Shortly thereafter Coffie and his teammates walked off the pitch and the game was abandoned before halftime.
The North German Soccer Federation announced on Monday that it had zero evidence of Coffie being racially abused and handed Bremer SV a 5-0 victory.

Marshall will join McLaren at the start of 2024 after 17 years with Red Bull
McLaren F1 announced a major personnel move on Tuesday, one that is likely to send shockwaves through the paddock at this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix. Rob Marshall will join McLaren as the team’s Technical Director, Engineering & Design, at the start of 2024.
Marshall has spent the past 17 years with Red Bull, most recently as the team’s Chief Engineering Officer, a role he was promoted to in 2016.
McLaren announced the move on Tuesday on their website.

A former Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete is warning that allowing transgender athletes to compete could cause girls and women to turn away from sports.
Daley Thompson won a pair of gold medals for Great Britain in the decathlon at both the 1980 Moscow and 1983 Los Angeles Summer Games.
Nowadays, Thompson is a supporter of the Fair Play For Women organization in the UK which supports women’s rights in athletics. Its backers include former Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.
