New England also reportedly is interviewing another candidate on Friday.
The Patriots interviewed Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien on Thursday for their offensive coordinator position, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. 
O’Brien was an assistant on several college teams before he broke into the NFL on New England’s staff as an offensive assistant in 2007. He worked his way up to become the team’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach and was eventually hired to become Penn State’s coach in 2012. He returned to the NFL two years later.

The sideline can be a lonely place for a player who’s just made a mistake, particularly if that player is a kicker. Specialists in general often hone their craft apart from the larger group, and that isolation could become difficult to bare after poor results.
For Cowboys kicker Brett Maher, there was no poorer result than his historic extra-point misses in Monday’s win against the Buccaneers. Thankfully, CeeDee Lamb was there to pick his teammate up.

Hard to believe, but things were even worse than they appeared this season for the New York Jets and second-year WR Elijah Moore.
According to a report from The Athletic, at one point this season, Moore was so pissed about his lack of targets that he lashed out at now-former OC Mike LaFleur during practice, told him to go “f*ck yourself” and “you suck” before getting sent home for the night.

Former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski has flirted with a comeback from retirement, adopting a never-say-never attitude when it comes to returning to the sport.
