Remember the Indianapolis Colts being the only NFL team admitting publicly it could have interest in Lamar Jackson? Yeah, that idea is not necessarily dead, but it is on life support.
Everything the Colts have done in recent days and weeks has suggested they have turned away from the idea of trying to trade for Jackson.
And Colts coach Shane Steichen, asked specifically on Wednesday if Jackson or other options might draw the team’s interest away from quarterbacks in the draft, was quite succinct about the team’s view.

Yankees play-by-play announcer Michael Kay drummed up controversy over the franchise’s long-standing short hair policy after cameras panned to the team’s long-haired bat boy on Monday night against the Guardians.
YES Network cameras focused on New York manager Aaron Boone in the seventh inning of the broadcast and the bat boy was standing next to him donning his long hair.
Kay quickly referenced the “Neatness Count” policy implemented by former owner George Steinbrenner in the ’70s, which the club still abides by today.

After missing the cut at The Masters, Rory McIlroy decided to skip this week’s RBC Heritage. While some of the game’s biggest players are electing not to play the week following a major championship is nothing new, not playing in this year’s RBC means more than it ever has.
The top players on the PGA Tour agreed to play in a certain number of new-look designated events this season. Each player eligible to play in these events is allowed to miss one of them over the course of the season, but McIlroy will miss two after skipping this week’s event in Hilton Head.

After lighting it up at Riverside City College and earning the top JUCO quarterback ranking in the Class of 2023, Jake Retzlaff transferred to BYU. He is one of five students at the predominantly Mormon university of Jewish faith, and one of just three undergraduates.
Retzlaff is unique, to say the least.
Brigham Young University was founded in 1875 and is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Of its 34,980 undergraduate students, approximately 98% are of the Mormon faith.
Retzlaff, a Reform Jew, is not one of them.

LSU women’s basketball player Angel Reese is enjoying a heck of a run over the last few weeks. She’s an athlete that most casual sports fans probably had no clue about until around two weeks ago. But that’s enough for LSU legend Shaquille O’Neal to declare she’s the GOAT over Joe Burrow.
In a scorching hot take delivered on The Big Pod, Shaq effusively praised the previously little-known hooper.
“She’s probably the greatest athlete to come out of LSU sports. You heard it here first. Man and female,” Shaq said. But he didn’t stop there.
“She delivered that package.

Pictures hold a great deal of power, especially in today’s fast-paced media landscape.
One photo can create multiple different perceptions about a person—good or bad. And when former All-NBA guard Isiah Thomas saw the picture chosen for his interview on Tuesday’s episode of ESPN’s Keyshawn, JWill and Maxshow, he was not thrilled about the network’s photo choice.
Thomas did not like the picture because it made him look mean and bitter.

1. We’ve said it many, many times. We love the pitch clock. We can’t get enough of the pitch clock. God bless the pitch clock.
Major League Baseball’s pitch clock has shaved about a half hour off games this season.
Average time of game the past five seasons:
2023: 2:382022: 3:032021: 3:102020: 3:072019: 3:05
The days of three-and-a-half-hour games are no more. The dead time during a game is gone, and action is way up. The pitch clock could not have worked out any better—except for one thing.
Since games are now shorter, that means teams have less time to sell beer at games.
