The NBA announced it is investigating the Mavericks after Dallas sat many of its top players in Friday night’s game vs. the Bulls.
“The NBA commenced an investigation today into the facts and circumstances surrounding the Dallas Mavericks’ roster decisions and game conduct with respect to last night’s Chicago Bulls-Mavericks game, including the motivations behind those actions,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass said in a statement, via ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.
Dallas sat several key players vs. Chicago, including Kyrie Irving, Tim Hardaway Jr., Maxi Kleber and Christian Wood.

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby had a three-point game to reach the 1,500-point mark, something only 14 other players have done in NHL history.
Crosby hit the milestone on Saturday afternoon on the road against the Detroit Red Wings.
Sid was sitting on point No. 1,499 having scored in the first period and assisted on Danton Heinen’s second-period tally.
So, why wait to hit 1,500?
3:01 into the final stanza, Crosby fired a power play goal past Ville Husso.
Yeah, Sid’s still got it.
Take a look at Sidney Crosby’s 1,500th career point!

The third round of The Masters is officially suspended for the rest of the day due to an absolute monsoon at Augusta, which can only mean one thing … it’s time to drink! At least that’s the case for second-place Jon Rahm.
And after a rough last few holes, I’d absolutely take it if I were him.
Rahm and leader Brooks Koepka battled it out for six holes to start the third round of moving day at Augusta, with Koepka not blinking on his way to a four shot lead when the horn signaled the day was over due to unplayable conditions.
Mallory Swanson was carted off in the first half of a World Cup tuneup match against Ireland, which the Americans won 2-0.
The NBA’s Eastern Conference is all set for the playoffs. The Bucks and Celtics locked down the top two seeds, the 76ers, Cavaliers, Knicks and Nets have the next four playoff spots, and the Heat, Hawks, Raptors and Bulls will battle it out in the play-in tournament.
Meanwhile, the Western Conference has been chaos all year, and the final two days of the regular season are no exception.
The Nuggets, Grizzlies, Kings and Suns have clinched playoff spots. The Mavericks, Jazz, Trail Blazers, Spurs and Rockets are ready to book spring vacations.
Everyone knew this was coming, but now it’s official: Luke Hughes is going pro and has officially signed with the New Jersey Devils.
He’ll join his older brother, Devils star Jack Hughes, for a 1-2 punch of Hughes-ness for the last week of the regular season and then the playoffs.
This is far from a surprise. Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald straight-up said that he was going to sign the 19-year-old when his college season at the University of Michigan had wrapped up.
Erling Haaland continued his extraordinary first season in the Premier League on Saturday, notching his 30th league goal of the season in Manchester City’s 4–1 victory against Southampton.
Haaland’s record-setting goal happened during the 68th minute of the match. Man City’s Jack Grealish cut inside and dinked a cross over to Haaland, who completed an acrobatic overhead kick just past goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, giving Manchester City a 3–0 advantage.
Haaland’s 30 goals in only 27 Premier league matches marked the fewest games to accomplish the feat.
John Elway’s final contract with the Broncos as an outside consultant ended in March, marking the conclusion of his long tenure with Denver both as a player and in numerous capacities within the team’s front office.
Elway, 62, was the President of Football Operations for the Broncos when the team made an appearance in Super Bowl XLVIII and won Super Bowl 50. Over the last few years, Elway has slowly phased out of a significant role in Denver’s front office and now, he says, he’s done for good.
Brooks Koepka (-13) and Jon Rahm (-10) teed off just after 1 p.m. to start their third round at The Masters as the two leaders (by a mile), but nobody can really watch them play.
And fans are thrilled!
Thanks to Mother Nature, it’s an absolute scramble out at Augusta this afternoon as everyone is working to get their round in in a timely manner. Because of that, our two leaders — Koepka and Rahm — teed off at 1 p.m. — hours before CBS’ TV coverage was set to begin.
So, until CBS starts its coverage at 3 p.m.
The MLB season is just over a week old and and we’ve already seen some wild things happen, thanks mostly to the new pitch clock that is causing fits for both pitchers and hitters.
On Friday night we saw a unique strikeout that had not nothing to do with that pitch clock and everything to do with pain.
A’s right fielder Ramón Laureano struck out swinging but also got hit by the pitch on the same 90-mph changeup. Because he swung at the pitch before getting hit it was ruled a strikeout, which just had to be the worst way to strikeout.
