On top of a lackluster coaching performance in the 2022 World Cup, Gregg Berhalter lost his job as USMNT manager due to the way he handled Gio Reyna and the drama that followed. One would imagine he’s tried to resolve things with Reyna since being brought back as manager over two months ago, but that isn’t the case.
Berhlater hasn’t even spoken to Reyna since being named USMNT manager yet again in mid-June. He is seeking advice from mediation experts, for whatever that’s worth, about how to speak to the 20-year-old Reyna, who is arguably the most important piece on the U.S.

Yankees centerfielder Harrison Bader said he found out the news just minutes before the team’s Tuesday game against the Detroit Tigers.
The AFC South is the epitome of why the NFL is so popular.
For two consecutive years, the Jaguars were picking first in the draft. One season later, they’re division champs and hosting a playoff game, rallying from a 27–0 deficit against the Chargers to win. Now, Jacksonville appears ready to roll toward another AFC South crown while trying to take its place among the best teams in the sport.
Looking at the division, the Jaguars are the heavy favorites.
Consider the following list:
2016: Lane Kiffin2017: Brian Daboll2018: Mike Locksley2019: Lincoln Riley2020: Doug Pederson, Press Taylor2021: Nick Sirianni, Shane Steichen, Brian Johnson2022: Sirianni, Steichen, Johnson2023: Sirianni, Johnson
No, that’s not a ranking of football offensive innovators, although it could be. No, it’s not a list of top candidates to run either major college football programs or NFL teams, although it could be that, too. From the above list, only Taylor and Johnson have not been a head coach—and both should be soon.

The young driver survived at Zandvoort, but has a chance to thrive at Monza
Liam Lawson’s Formula 1 debut was quite the baptism by fire.
The young driver did not find out until Friday, after the second practice session, that he would be replacing an injured Daniel Ricciardo in the Dutch Grand Prix. That meant Lawson would have just a single hour of practice at an unfamiliar track before qualifying on Saturday.
In that practice session, wet conditions caused three separate red flags, one of which was for Lawson himself spinning out on the circuit.
Seattle’s Luke Weaver made the fielding play of the year for a pitcher during Tuesday night’s home against the Oakland A’s when he slid to grab a slow-hit grounder and somehow was able to get enough on a throw to first to get the runner on a bang-bang play that left fans in awe.
Weaver, who was pulled from the game in the fourth inning, made this look way too easy. While we’re used to seeing pitchers throwing nasty pitches, we’re not used to seeing them making plays like this.
This play will likely be something he never forgets.
Three MVPs, three Super Bowl winners and four All-Pros. Plus, ascending Pro Bowlers Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert and Trevor Lawrence.
Welcome to the AFC quarterback class of 2023.
For decades, the NFL has typically seen a few great signal-callers challenged by excellent teams and perhaps one or two other quarterbacks of commensurate stature within their conference. In this year’s AFC, at least half of the conference has someone under center capable of leading his team to a championship.
Colorado DB Travis Hunter might have an inflated view of himself on a football field.
The Colorado cornerback, who will also mix it up at WR, is viewed as one of the best CBs in major college football after following Deion Sanders from Jackson State.
How will he do in the PAC-12 after dominating the FCS level? Fans will get their first look Saturday against TCU. If it goes as well as Hunter thinks, the Buffaloes should roll.
Why do we say that? Well, Colorado apparently has the two best players in America…..according to Travis Hunter.

Giants starter Alex Cobb was one out away from throwing the 18th no-hitter in club history. Then, Spencer Steer crashed the party.
Steer roped a double into the right-center field gap with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, spoiling Cobb’s no-hit bid and disappointing the crowd at Oracle Park. Steer’s double also denied Cobb a shutout, as it scored Nick Senzel, who reached first base on a walk two batters earlier.
Cobb would have logged his second shutout of the season. He was also in line to have San Francisco’s first no-hitter since Chris Heston’s on June 9, 2015.
