A proposal is currently on the table that would allow college football analysts and other off-field staffers to coach during practice. Where it was previously expected to pass in January, that is no longer the case.

PHOENIX — The New York Jets say they are being patient about adding talent this offseason and we should all be fully aware what that actually means: These guys are trying to put together an all-star team.
We already know the club is in negotiations with the Green Bay Packers about trading for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. But former Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr, former Pro Bowl defensive lineman Calais Campbell, and Pro Bowl center Ben Jones, too?
Yup.
Coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas confirmed as much on Monday.

David Benavidez struggled early in his career, but an assertive win last week earned him a spot in this month’s list.
Before last Saturday, all that prevented David Benavidez from claiming a spot in the pound-for-pound rankings was … David Benavidez. Maturity issues plagued the early years of Benavidez’s career, issues that cost him his world title (twice) and were roadblocks to the one fight (a showdown with Canelo Álvarez) that Benavidez craves.
After defeating Caleb Plant, Benavidez has officially arrived.

The longtime Packers quarterback expressed his intention to play in New York earlier this week.
Earlier this month, longtime Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed that he intends to play for the Jets this upcoming season. Since then, an official trade has not yet transpired as the two teams continue to discuss the trade’s terms.
Rodgers was obviously a hot topic of conversation for Jets general manager Joe Douglas at this week’s annual league meetings. When asked about any updates regarding the trade, Douglas made it sound like the two sides have a little way to go.

Sure, taking shots at Eli Apple for no reason may seem cruel. But he does this to himself. If he — and his mom — didn’t talk so much trash, people like me would probably leave him alone.
But they do, so here we are.
Eli Apple is not a very good football player. A former Top 10 overall NFL Draft pick by the New York Giants, Apple never fulfilled expectations.
The Giants traded Apple to the New Orleans Saints during his third NFL season. The Carolina Panthers signed him after his fourth NFL season. After one injury-plagued year in Carolina, he landed in Cincinnati.

Andy Reid was asked about Jordan Love (for some reason) during today’s NFL meetings, and you may wanna look away, Packers fans, because Big Red had ZERO clue who he was.
None. Zero. Ziltch. Nada. Reid may as well have been asked the question in another language.

Here’s Andy Reid having absolutely zero clue on who Jordan Love is

Sometimes the best call is no call, even though that is wrong.
Such was the case at the end of another thrilling 2023 NCAA Tournament game on Sunday at Louisville in the South Region championship game.
Tied 56-56 in the final seconds, No. 5 seed San Diego State guard Darrion Trammell lets go of a floater in the lane just as he is fouled by No. 6 seed Creighton’s Ryan Nembhard. Trammell misses the shot as a foul on Nembhard is called with 1.2 seconds to go.
Trammell misses the first free throw, but makes the second.

His posting coming out during the NFL owners meetings asking to be traded turned up the volume on his negotiation, and now it’s up to Baltimore to quiet the situation.
John Harbaugh sat down at 7:45 a.m. local time at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix, with his quarterback presumably on the other side of the country, a gaggle of media crowding his table at the NFL owners meetings, and his Ravens facing as much uncertainty at the position as they have in a decade.
Three minutes later, Lamar Jackson hit send on his Twitter account, and turned the volume up to full blast.

PHOENIX — The Cleveland Browns are trying to get Deshaun Watson back to form.
And we’re talking form as in the Pro Bowl quarterback he was 2018-2020. We’re not talking the alleged predator he was suspended for being in 2019-2020.
So the club has kept things Watson feels good about status quo to make sure he’s comfortable. It’s one reason Joshua Dobbs, whom Watson related to well last season, was re-signed as the backup quarterback.
And the club has made some changes it deemed necessary to help Watson play better.
