Houston native Megan Thee Stallion had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at the Astros Opening Day game vs. the White Sox on Thursday, and fans loved it.
It was a big night at Minute Maid Park as Houston played its first game since winning the 2022 World Series. The festivities included the raising of the banner ahead of the game.
This World Series ceremony was followed by the three-time Grammy award winner approaching the mound to toss out the first pitch, sporting a personalized Astros jersey.

The Celtics dominated the Bucks 140–99 on Thursday night, but even the large margin of victory didn’t stop tensions flaring between the two Eastern Conference stalwarts. 
With Boston up by 44 points in the fourth quarter, Milwaukee’s Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Boston’s Blake Griffin had a physical play on one end of the floor, with Griffin seemingly unhappy by the lack of a foul call. When the ball came back down the floor, Antetokounmpo had the ball under the basket and Griffin came down with a hard foul as the Bucks forward attempted a layup.

President Joe Biden hosted Bills safety Damar Hamlin at the White House on Thursday.
Hamlin, who went into cardiac arrest during Buffalo’s game against the Bengals on Jan. 2, has made a miraculous recovery since being hospitalized after being administered CPR on the field that night. According to many reports, Hamlin is not willing to allow his injury to prevent him from making a return to the field next season.
As he continues his recovery, Hamlin took a trip to the nation’s capital to meet with POTUS.

HOUSTON — The Great Resignation has hit the college basketball coaching ranks hard in recent years: Roy Williams hung it up at North Carolina in 2021; Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski and Villanova’s Jay Wright followed in ’22; Jim Boeheim was encouraged by Syracuse to join them this year.
The game was changing rapidly around them. Name, Image and Likeness rules and the transfer portal were altering the way coaches construct rosters. If the old guard didn’t like the new reality, it seemed like an opportune time to check out.

Former NBA hooper Matt Barnes thinks he’s fit to run for office, with 14 seasons in the league to his political resumé.
In a recent podcast interview, Barnes, 43, shared that he’s made it a goal to be in political office by the time he’s in his 50s, saying he’ll run for mayor or governor … whichever’s easier.
“I gave myself a goal back in my 30s that by the time I turn 50, I wanted to run for some sort of office,” Barnes told Rachel Uchitel on the “Miss Understood” podcast.
