The Spartans reached the regional semifinals for the first time since 2019.
After four years away, Michigan State is back in the Sweet 16.
Warding off a spirited second-half comeback from Marquette, the Spartans downed the Golden Eagles, 69–60, in the second round of the men’s NCAA tournament in Columbus on Sunday to reach the East Regional semifinals.
Guard Tyson Walker led the way for Michigan State, tallying 23 points. Forward Joey Hauser added 14 points and 10 rebounds in a game where Marquette held the Spartans to 2-for-16 shooting from beyond the three-point line.

The Missouri Tigers’ football program suspended defensive star Chad Bailey after an early-morning Sunday arrest.
A seemingly intoxicated Bailey was pulled over for a lane violation while driving with a suspended license and performed “poorly” during a field sobriety test, first reported by The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Coach Eli Drinkwitz released a statement on Bailey’s arrest hours later, announcing the 23-year-old linebacker’s indefinite suspension. According to the school’s conduct guidelines, players receive a one-week-minimum suspension for arrests.
