Stephen Curry and the Warriors advanced to the Western Conference semifinals on Sunday following their resounding victory over the Kings in Game 7. Curry made some jaw-dropping history in the win, scoring 50 points to overtake Kevin Durant’s record for the most points in a Game 7 in NBA history.
After Curry’s historic afternoon, Durant took to Twitter to congratulate him on becoming the new record-holder, sending his former teammate a four-word message.
“Legendary 30. 50 pieces,” wrote Durant.
During the ESPN on ABC broadcast of Game 1 between the Knicks and Heat on Sunday, NBA fans noticed a jarring video used as b-roll of Manhattan. The broadcast was using a video of the Statue of Liberty, but in the background, the Twin Towers could be seen.
Naturally, fans didn’t care for the use of the World Trade Center that was destroyed in a terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001. It lead to Twitter users questioning whether ABC had any recent video of Manhattan. Even if they didn’t for some odd reason, any other video clip that didn’t include the Twin Towers would have sufficed.

In the immediate aftermath of Sunday’s victory, Wade greeted Butler as the latter walked off the court following a team-high 25 points and 11 rebounds.
Veteran Bucs linebacker Shaquil Barrett tragically lost his two-year-old daughter, Arrayah Barrett. According to Tampa Police, the infant drowned in the family’s swimming pool in south Florida early Sunday.
Authorities were called to the residence at 9:30 a.m. and despite lifesaving efforts, the infant died.

Tampa Bay Police report that officers responded to an emergency call from Barrett’s residence around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, regarding a child who had fallen into the pool. Barrett’s daughter, Arrayah, was transported to a nearby hospital where doctors attempted to perform lifesaving measures, though she was later pronounced dead.
An investigation into the situation is ongoing, though it’s believed the incident was an accident, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
Heat fans collectively held their breath Sunday afternoon when Jimmy Butler appeared to suffer a significant ankle injury and could be seen in serious pain on the hardwood in Game 1 against the Knicks. Despite the apparent pain, Butler remained in the game with a noticeable limp and Miami pulled out a 108–101 win. After the game, Butler was asked how the injury is feeling.
“Like a rolled ankle,” he responded.
U.S. Olympic track and field legend Ralph Boston died Sunday at the age of 83 following complications from a recent stroke, according to Mike Organ of The Tennessean.
Boston, born on May 9, 1939, in Laurel, Miss., rose to prominence ahead of the 1960 Olympics in Rome following a standout career at Tennessee State. During an Olympic tune-up meet in August 1960, Boston set the long jump world record with a leap of 26 feet and 11.25 inches, besting the mark set by the legendary Jesse Owens 25 years prior by three inches.
The Miami Heat defeated the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Sunday afternoon in the NBA Playoffs.
