Few franchises in the NBA boast a history like the Spurs. Even fewer boast San Antonio’s sense of linearity — Hall of Fame center David Robinson played with Hall of Fame forward Tim Duncan, who played with Hall of Fame guard Manu Ginóbili, who played with future Hall of Fame forward Kawhi Leonard, etc.
With new Spurs center Victor Wembanyama becoming the heir apparent to San Antonio’s past greats after being drafted No. 1 Thursday evening, it only made sense for him to dine with living, breathing legends.

A minor league hockey player was walking around in one rank jersey days after winning the AHL’s Calder Cup, according to his team.
Earlier this week, the Hershey Bears — AHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals — won their 12th Calder Cup in franchise history, by beating the Coachella Valley Firebirds in overtime of Game 7.

Aaron Judge announced Saturday he has a torn ligament in his right big toe and he still feels pain when he walks.
The news comes just two days after the New York Yankees said Judge possibly could start baseball activities this weekend. But that’s not happening.
The Yankees slugger originally sustained the injury June 3 when he crashed into the right field wall at Dodger Stadium. It’s an unusual injury for baseball.
“I don’t think too many people have torn a ligament in their toe,” Judge said Saturday. “If it was a quad we’d have a better answer.

OMAHA, Nebraska – First of all, it’s because it’s here in Omaha.
And the College World Series is here every year. It started in this All-American city of about 500,000 on the Missouri River at the Iowa line in 1950 and has been here every year since, except in 2020 because of COVID.
The CWS is so entrenched in Omaha literally and mentally that people began using “Omaha” as a synonym for the College World Series decades ago. That doesn’t happen in many other sports.

American sprinter Noah Lyles ran the 200m in under 20 seconds for the 34th time in his career on Saturday, tying Usain Bolt for the most sub-20 second 200m races in history.
Lyles paced the field at the New York City Grand Prix on Saturday, running the 200m in 19.83 seconds. The 25-year-old beat the field by 42 hundredths of a second. 
Lyles broke the American record in the 200m last year, running the race in 19.31 seconds. With that American record, Lyles became the third-fastest 200m sprinter in history behind Usain Bolt’s 19.19 seconds and Yohan Blake’s 19.26 seconds.
