At the Women’s College World Series on Monday, No. 9 Stanford did what very, very few teams have managed to do so far this year: It pushed No. 1 Oklahoma to its limit.
Even at its limit, however, Oklahoma is still … Oklahoma. It took extra innings. It involved the kind of pitching duel that has rarely been required this year for the Sooners, who lead the nation both in batting average and slugging percentage. But it still ended the way most games do for Oklahoma—which is to say, of course, with a win.

Rumors of Oklahoma softball’s demise have been greatly exaggerated.
The two-time defending national champion Sooners are headed back to the women’s College World Series finals after dispatching Stanford 4–2 Monday afternoon in nine innings. The win represented Oklahoma’s 51st victory in a row—the longest streak in Division I history.
In fact, the Sooners own four of the five longest winning streaks in Division I college softball history. Oklahoma previously posted streaks of 41 (2019), 40 (’21–22), and 40 (’20–21) games.

Chase Herbstreit is set to begin an incredibly busy month of June on Wednesday. The youngest son of college football and NFL analyst Kirk Herbstreit will embark on a run of college camps that includes five of the 12 teams to reach a New Year’s Six Bowl game last season.
Herbstreit, a 2025 quarterback recruit, has not yet been ranked because he simply has not played that much on the high school level. However, the position is obviously in his blood, and he is considered to be one of the rising prospects in his class.

Apparently, the NFL has a gambling problem. The league has gone all-in on legalized gambling, but not when it comes to their players.
Last year, the league suspended Calvin Ridley for an entire year over a gambling violation. This offseason, several more players received lengthy suspensions for violating the league’s gambling policy.
Essentially, the league wants people to bet on the NFL. Why? Because it raises interest in the sport. But, they don’t want players betting on games because it jeopardizes the integrity of the game.
That puts the NFL in a tough spot.

Southern Mississippi baseball has leaned on its ace Tanner Hall in each of the last two seasons. But at what point are the Golden Eagles leaning on him too much?
