The quarterback denies any animosity between he and his former coach.
On Friday, The Athletic reported that Russell Wilson asked the Seahawks to fire both coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider last February. That appeared to be the last straw for the organization, as Seattle traded Wilson to the Broncos later that offseason.
However, the Denver quarterback denies that the report is true. On Twitter, Wilson explained that he appreciated his time in Seattle and has no ill will towards Carroll or Schneider.

Wilson reportedly had another coach in mind: Sean Payton.
Before being traded to the Denver Broncos and beginning what would be the worst year of his NFL career, Broncos QB Russell Wilson wanted Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and GM Jon Schneider fired, according to a report by The Athletic.
According to the report, Wilson was convinced that Carroll and Schneider were blocking Wilson’s chances of winning another Super Bowl and other individual awards.

Russell Wilson reportedly wanted Sean Payton to replace Pete Carroll in Seattle.
The new Arizona coach shared a fun story to explain how his quarterback is rehabbing.
New Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon’s first big goal is to make sure quarterback Kyler Murray rehabs properly and is healthy by the time he returns. Only two weeks into the job, Gannon seems confident enough in his relationship with Murray to joke about it with the media.
When asked about how Murray’s rehab is going, Gannon used a funny point of reference to explain that the quarterback is doing well.
“He wanted to play me one-on-one today, so I guess he’s doing pretty good,” Gannon joked.
This humble pie is so sweet.
A video of a youth basketball team went viral in January when the third graders were seen flexing on their competition, mocking the kids they were playing against, and generally being little punks. It sparked a huge range of conversation. Some people felt it was fine, and just a reflection of how kids are now — while others thought it went way beyond the pale that parents and coaches would tolerate the team being this disrespectful.

The Rebels are 10–18 on the season.
Ole Miss fired men’s basketball coach Kermit Davis on Friday, according to a report by Jon Rothstein. The move comes with just three regular season games left on the Rebels’ schedule, and the team sitting in last place in the SEC at 10–18 (2–13).
Davis was in his fifth season with the Rebels. His tenure got off to a relatively strong start, with a 20–13 season in 2018–19 that culminated in a trip to the NCAA tournament.
6-foot-9 and 6-10 centers aren’t big enough at Purdue. Enter Zach Edey (7-4) — who wasn’t always a star, but under the guidance of the Boilermakers’ coaching staff, has become the school’s latest dominant big man.
The star quarterback’s significant demand ended with his trade to Denver.
The Seahawks traded star quarterback Russell Wilson to the Broncos in March 2022, in one of the most significant moves of last year’s NFL offseason. According to The Athletic, Wilson attempted to have the franchise fire both coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider a month earlier.
According to the report, the relationship between the quarterback and his former coach deteriorated to the point that they did not speak before the 2022 Week 1 game between the Seahawks and Wilson’s Broncos.
After spending six seasons in the NFL as a regular backup quarterback for four different franchises, AJ McCarron stepped away from the field during the 2022 season. After recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in April 2021, the former Alabama star has gotten back to playing in 2023, but for the St. Lous Battlehwawks of the XFL.
McCarron could likely be on an NFL roster or at the very least a team’s practice squad, but neither of those opportunities would give him an opportunity to play meaningful snaps in front of his three young sons.
