It’s an NFL Sunday, which means referees are in the spotlight. And, like clockwork, they’ve already massively impacted the NFC Championship Game between the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles faced a fourth-and-3 from the edge of field goal range (49ers’ 35 yard-line). Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni is typically on the more aggressive side and he showed no fear early in the NFC Championship.
Rather than attempt a field goal, the Eagles decided to go for it. Initially, quarterback Jalen Hurts couldn’t find anyone open.

The best catch of the NFL postseason wasn’t actually a catch.
The NFC Championship Game between the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers was not even five minutes old when we got our first big controversy of the day.
What happened? The Eagles opened the game in possession of the football and quickly drove down the field. However, they found themselves in a fourth-and-3 situation at the San Francisco 35-yard line, prompting head coach Nick Sirianni to make a decision: go for a long field goal, or try to keep the drive alive by going for it.
Egg prices are up more than 200% year-over-year but that is not stopping Eagles fans from using them as weapons. They unleashed the oval-shaped breakfast item at 49ers fans who were visiting Philadelphia on Sunday for the NFC Championship Game.
Eagles fans, really just fans of any team in the City of Brotherly Love, are known not to love so brotherly. Santa Claus was famously the target of snowballs in 1968. Not even Santa Claus is safe!
Head coach Nick Sirianni was asked about the hostility of Philadelphia fans during a press conference earlier this week.

Stetson Bennett is too old for this
Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett IV capped off his collegiate career by leading the Bulldogs to their second-straight National Championship. It was a magical end to his college career, that sat Bennett finish the year in New York City as one of the four Heisman finalists.
However, the Georgia QB is in the news for a different reason this weekend. According to WFAA in Dallas, Bennett was arrested early on Sunday morning and charged with public intoxication.
