Wednesday night, Jon Jones will win the ESPY for 2023 UFC Fighter of the Year.
Does that seem preposterous to anyone else?
Jones is one of the greatest to compete in the Octagon, though it feels like he won solely to add more star power to ESPN’s annual summer production. While the award is based on online voting, this wasn’t exactly a fair fight: Jones was set up to win.
Jones won the fan vote against Islam Makhachev, Amanda Nunes and Leon Edwards. If you’re awaiting an explanation as to why other fighters weren’t included, so am I.

Although James Harden has reportedly reiterated his trade request to the 76ers‘ front office, there may be a “path to reconciliation” between the 10-time All-Star and Philadelphia.
Harden and the Sixers have been working on finding a trade partner since June. Though the Clippers have emerged as a possible suitor, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported that conversations with 76ers players may be able to sway the 33-year-old into possibly giving it another go with the team.

Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi also agreed to wear a microphone during his appearance in the second inning, and Fox shared his whole showdown against Braves catcher Sean Murphy.

1. The crew for ESPN’s NBA pregame, halftime and postgame show has changed many times over the years, but the network still can’t seem to come up with the right formula to win over viewers.

However, ESPN’s NBA studio show problem isn’t just about the cast, according to Stephen A. Smith and Bill Simmons.

In recent days, there’s understandably been nonstop talk over the prospect of Damian Lillard—and, to a lesser extent, James Harden—being traded.
Lillard is coming off arguably his best individual season, averaging 32.2 points per game on a sparkling 56.4% effective field-goal rate, the best mark of his career. Any contender who acquires him figures to be even more in the mix for an NBA title. And even Harden, if he was to land with the Clippers or stay with the Sixers, would at least be worthy of a pause.
