Draymond Green is declining his $27.5 million contract option for 2023-24 season, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. The move allows Green and the Warriors to discuss a new deal, sign-and-trade scenarios and even free agency.
“We will continue to talk to Golden State and explore all options,” Green’s agent, Rich Paul, told ESPN.
Green’s future with the team that drafted him in 2012 has been a major storyline for nearly a year now, but the 33-year-old has maintained that he never wants to play for another franchise for the rest of his career.

Is it reasonable to believe that Sunday’s agreed-upon trade that will send Bradley Beal to Phoenix is a bad deal for both teams?
On paper, Phoenix acquiring Beal, an ex-All-Star—albeit one with injury issues, which we’ll get to in a moment—feels like a win. The Suns were already planning for a post–Chris Paul future and swapping Landry Shamet, a back-of-the-rotation player, for a scorer like Beal is a no-brainer.

Chris Paul apparently found out he will soon no longer be a member of the Suns in unceremonious fashion.

It was about where his offense was and, maybe more so, about where it was going.
“I left the practice field of the last practice of minicamp saying that was the best throwing session that we’ve ever had since we’ve been here,” Staley said, over the phone from Chicago, on his second day of vacation.
