Looking at the winners and the losers from the Miami Grand Prix
Five races into the 2023 F1 season the song remains the same.
Red Bull is in a class by themselves, and the rest of the field is playing catch-up.
Thanks to a charge through the field from Max Verstappen Red Bull locked out the front row for the fourth time in five races, with Verstappen finishing ahead of teammate Sergio Pérez.
They are certainly a story, but there are some other winners — and losers — to discuss as we look back at the 2023 Miami Grand Prix.
The Suns evened up their Western Conference semifinal series, 2-2, with the Nuggets with a thrilling 129-124 victory at home Sunday night in a game that featured one wild moment that could lead to some trouble with the league for Denver’s Nikola Jokić.
Phoenix once again was led by its two stars—Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, who both finished with 36 points. The two came up huge in Games 3 and 4 at home and now head back to Denver in a series that very well could go the distance.
After the game, Shaquille O’Neal had a message for Booker on TNT’s tremendous postgame show.
Harrison Butker, the two-time Super Bowl-winning kicker of the Kansas City Chiefs, returned to his alma mater of Georgia Tech over to the weekend to give a commencement speech. The 27-year-old shared a powerful message along with some words of wisdom to the class of 2023.
Butker is a married man, father of two, and devout Catholic and spoke about his faith and the importance of family during his speech, which is considered controversial by some folks these days.
Early in his speech, Butker said he planned to “pop off some hard truths.” And that’s exactly what he did.
LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese will make her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut in the 2023 issue later this month.
Reese, nicknamed the Bayou Barbie, guided the Tigers to their first NCAA championship in program history on April 2 and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. The 6’3” forward captivated the nation during this year’s March Madness—further launching women’s basketball into the national sphere with her competitive spirit and talent on the court.
“Angel Reese is a phenomenal basketball player,” SI Swimsuit editor-in-chief MJ Day says.
It was well after midnight and into the wee hours of March 13 in suburban New Jersey, when Jets GM Joe Douglas saw agent David Dunn’s number flash on his phone. The free-agent tampering period was set to begin in a matter of hours, at noon that Monday. Pro day season was underway, too. Both George Russell and Lewis Hamilton worked their way into the points on Sunday in Miami
After a qualifying session to forget on Saturday, Mercedes bounced back on Sunday with a solid performance that saw both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell work their way into the points. Despite starting 13th, Hamilton was able to make up significant ground on the track and come in sixth. For his part Russell worked his way from sixth at the start into fourth, giving the team a P4 and a P6 for their efforts.
Kansas State football coach Chris Klieman is about to be a very rich man.
Fresh off winning the Big 12 championship game last season, the head coach of the Wildcats is in the process of finalizing an eight-year deal worth $44 million, according to ESPN.
Klieman will earn an average of $5.5 million over the course of the deal. His salary in 2022 was $3.5 million.
That means KSU winning the Big 12 title game resulted in a very hefty raise.

The story of Game 4 between the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns isn’t the Suns tying up the series 2-2 or Nikola Jokic going for 53 points. The game’s big talking point involved Phoenix owner Mat Ishbia and his not-so-great flop just before halftime.
With two minutes left in the second quarter, the basketball went out of bounds and found its way to Ishbia sitting courtside. Given that he’s the owner of the team and the game was in Phoenix, Ishbia took advantage of the moment and held onto the ball.
Zach Ertz might want to hide from the spotlight for a little bit after throwing an all-time bad first pitch.
The Arizona Cardinals tight end and his wife Julie threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to a recent Phillies game, and it didn’t go well at all.
While Julie managed to get the ball in the general area of the plate, her husband buried it into the ground well short of the target.
