Can Lionel Messi accomplish what David Beckham failed to do and morph the United States into a soccer-crazed nation?
It has been 16 years since Beckham made his move to the MLS in what was thought to be the move that would finally make the United States a soccer-mad nation.
It did not work out that way.
Now, Messi — who is set to leave his current club, Paris St-Germain — is headed stateside, with similar expectations.
Ironically, he reportedly plans to sign with Beckham’s Inter Miami CF.

In a since-deleted tweet, Kevin Durant weighed in on Nikola Jokić’s unique mindset after a clip went viral discussing the Nuggets’ big man’s star power.
“I don’t think Jokić wants or cares to be a star,” Durant tweeted. “Go to work and go home, FaceTime his horses and hop in the pool.”
The tweet stemmed from a conversation on The Dan LeBatard Show with Stugotz during which LeBatard opined that Jokić would be a bigger star if he were American-born.
“If he were American, good god would he be a star,” LeBatard said.
Inspirational quotes are all the trend. If you’re on social media, odds are it won’t take long before friends, strangers, or memes bombard you with unrequested pearls of wisdom.
While none of those quotes were on display during Tuesday night’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter, that isn’t to imply there weren’t quotes worth sharing.

McIlroy reacted to the news of the PGA Tour merging with the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund for the first time publicly.

Following the announcement of the PGA Tour aligning itself with the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF), McIlroy met with the media after his Wednesday pro-am at the RBC Canadian Open.

In 2020, the Jaguars released plans to upgrade its stadium in downtown Jacksonville, and three years since the initial announcement, it appears that serious progress has been made in planning what the new stadium will look like.
The Jaguars released a video on the team’s official social media accounts on Wednesday portraying detailed renderings of the renovated stadium, which will be domed and can seat as many as 71,500 people.
Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson has been on fire since returning from the injured list over the weekend.
Donaldson didn’t hit much in the five games he played before going on the IL in April with a hamstring injury, but at least the Yankees could count on him for strong defense. He returned to the field on Friday and has made an immediate impact, hitting three homers in his last three games. In Tuesday night’s game, he made a pair of impressive defensive plays. The first came in the fifth inning when he made a strong off-balance throw to nail a runner at first.
While other superstars have demanded trades or been left free in free agency, Damian Lillard has constantly preached loyalty to his team—despite the repeated years of disappointment on the court. But for a brief moment, it appeared that Lillard wouldn’t be too upset if the Trail Blazers decided to trade him as long as it was to one of these two teams.
While appearing on Showtime’s The Last Stand, Lillard was asked about possible trade scenarios that include the Knicks, Heat, Celtics and Nets and which would he prefer.
“Miami, obviously,” Lillard said.
