Kansas State sealed its second Elite Eight appearance of the last six years after beating Michigan State 98–93 in an overtime thriller on Thursday night.
The Wildcats can thank guard Markquis Nowell, who had a hand in 64 of the team’s points as he scored 20 and racked up 19 assists, an NCAA tournament record. All the while, Nowell was powering through a sore ankle after he rolled it early in the second half.

Kansas State senior point guard Markquis Nowell set the all-time record with 19 assists in the Wildcats’ East Regional victory over Michigan State. Nowell’s supreme production is the most in a men’s NCAA tournament game, breaking the previous mark set by UNLV’s Mark Wade (18) back in the 1987 National Semifinals.

The game was pushed into overtime after Spartans guard Tyson Walker scored a layup in the final six seconds of regulation. The extra five minutes saw five lead changes and three ties.
The Wildcats sealed the game after forward Ismael Massoud drained a jumper with 15 seconds left in overtime.

The action from Madison Square Garden in the Sweet 16 showdown between Michigan State and Kansas State just served up one of the best plays of the men’s NCAA tournament.

Hoskins suffered the injury after falling awkwardly while trying to field a ground ball in Thursday’s spring training game.
Hours after he was taken off the field on a cart following a knee injury, Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins has been diagnosed with a torn ACL in his left knee, the team announced Thursday.
No timetable has been determined for his return, nor has his surgery date been set. The team said that the procedure would be “reconstructive.”

The injury occurred during a spring training game against the Tigers.
