The rule changes, which include the game clock continuing to run after incomplete passes, could be implemented this fall.
A years-long effort in exploring ways to shorten college football games is entering the fourth quarter.
Executives of the sport are moving closer to recommending several clock rule changes meant to reduce plays for both safety and game length reasons, multiple officials tell Sports Illustrated. They include proposals that call for the clock to continue to run after first downs and incomplete passes.
While not much defense was played, Jayson Tatum still put on an offensive performance for the ages, en route to an All-Star Game scoring record.
First Babe Ruth, now Pistol Pete Maravich.
It took 34 years for Ruth’s season home run record of 60 to be broken by Roger Maris with 61 in 1961. They talked about putting an asterisk next to it, though, because Ruth hit his in 154 games. On Oct. 1, 1961, Maris hit his record smash at Yankee Stadium against Boston in the last game of the first year of the 162-game schedule in the American League.
ESPN made a very interesting broadcast decision during the D.C. Defenders/Seattle Sea Dragons game Sunday.
For some unknown reason, ESPN decided to interview Defenders QB Jordan Ta’amu in the locker room during halftime when he didn’t have his football pants on.
Then, to make it even weird, the camera panned down to his groin as he started getting dressed. Was it accidental? Almost certainly.
Was it still incredibly weird? No doubt at all.
Here’s the, uh, interesting camerawork. https://t.co/Z2yyWEqstV pic.twitter.
Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone served as the coach of Team LeBron during Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game. While he was honored to get the nod and be a part of the league’s big weekend, he didn’t exactly appreciate the game itself.
Speaking with the media after his team lost to Team Giannis, Malone gave his honest review of the play on the floor.
“It’s an honor to be here, and it’s an honor to be a part of a great weekend with great players, but it’s the worst basketball game ever played,” Malone said.
“I don’t know if you can fix it.
It’s not just NBA fans who are sick and tired of seeing star players randomly sit out games during the regular season, Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards is annoyed by the reality as well.
Speaking ahead of this past weekend’s NBA All-Star Game, Edwards was asked if he’d like to change anything in the league. Players sitting out games immediately came to the mind of the former Georgia Bulldog.
“Probably just all the guys sitting, resting,” Edwards explained. “That’s the only thing I probably don’t like. Just play, man. If you’re 80%, 70 – you gotta play.
Some Kansas City Chiefs fans are not happy with quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ antics during the team’s Super Bowl parade.
Following Mahomes winning his second ring, he cut loose with plenty of cold beers as the team celebrated with fans.

It was pretty epic and awesome.
Tony Romo caught a savage stray during an XFL game Sunday.
The XFL returned for its third iteration this past weekend, and unfortunately for Romo, he got rocked during the broadcast of the St. Louis BattleHawks/San Antonio Brahmas game.
ESPN commentator Matt Barrie opined that there was a “Romo playing football in Texas in February” after San Antonio kicker John Parker Romo hit a field goal in the first quarter.
The comment was a clear jab at Tony Romo’s lack of postseason success during his time with the Dallas Cowboys.
These XFL announcers are savage.
Jerry Kill is apparently very happy about winning the Quick Lane Bowl.
The Aggies had a surprisingly solid 7-6 season in Kill’s first year with the program, and it ended with a 24-19 win over Bowling Green in the Quick Lane Bowl.
The team tweeted a photo Sunday afternoon of Kill getting a massive bicep tattoo to celebrate the win. Yes, Jerry Kill apparently got inked up because the team *checks notes* beat Bowling Green in a bowl game most people have never heard of.
