Nobody played any defense in our ‘Madden’ Super Bowl.
We’re deep into Super Bowl week and everyone is trying to work out who is going to win. Truth is, nobody knows, especially not Madden 23 — but I had to sim it anyway.
There’s something special about doing a full 15 minute simulation of a football game and watching intently. You pass the uncanny valley and hit the sublime. You start knowing this is a game, then it starts to feel real, before you quickly realize that there is no way anything you’re seeing could actually happen in an NFL game.

A look back at a Disney almost-classic, starring Danza, with help from a future NFL kicker and a cameo from the Eagles’ new owner.
Screenwriter Tim Kelleher sat down at the Hollywood headquarters of what was then—in the mid-1990s—TriStar Pictures. A group of studio suits were there, serving up a half-baked pitch for an underdog sports tale. “They wanted to do a movie with Billy Crystal and the NBA,” Kelleher says.

Colin Cowherd apparently had the chance to jump into politics, but refused to do so.
The Fox Sports star has made a name for himself being one of the most popular sports pundits in the country, and he’s also banked a ton of money along the way.
Given his natural TV talent, it’s not hard to understand why political offers might come his way. Apparently, he’s turned down at least two chances to join a political network.

Davis didn’t seem all that impressed or happy.
LeBron James made NBA history Tuesday night as his fadeaway jump shot in the closing seconds of the third quarter made him the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, breaking a record that former Laker great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar held for nearly 39 years.
There was a big celebration on the court after the shot fell through the hoop and LeBron closed out the party by dropping a very clear F-bomb on live TV before the game between the Thunder and Lakers restarted.

Here’s why the Chiefs’ record-setting tight end may struggle to hit his numbers vs. the Eagles.
In the AFC championship game, Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce climbed into second place all-time in NFL postseason receiving yards (1,467), moving ahead of Rob Gronkowski (1,389) and Julian Edelman (1,442). Arguably the best tight end to ever play the game, Kelce only trails Hall of Fame wideout Jerry Rice (2,245) for the most receiving yards in NFL playoff history.

PHOENIX — Normally when someone holding power fires someone without it, the moment is no less jarring in the NFL than it is in business. There’s often a wall of hard feelings and even bitterness that instantly goes up and is cemented by the breakup.
And now one side is hoping the other fails.
That’s how it might have been in 2012 when Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie moved on from coach Andy Reid after both worked together so successfully for 14 seasons. This one had the potential to send everyone to opposing corners.

LeBron James broke the NBA all-time scoring record on Tuesday night. While most of the basketball world was bowing to The King’s latest feat, Enes Kanter Freedom took a different approach with his reaction to the moment.
Just minutes after James passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to take the throne on the all-time scoring list, Freedom fired off a rather vicious tweet pointing out Jamaes’ lack of values off the court.

The GM had an unusual path, but his experience has helped him build a juggernaut in Philadelphia.
I have said this since September: It’s the Eagles’ year; the rest of the league is just living in it. They have rolled through their schedule (16–1 in games with their starting quarterback), had two noncompetitive playoff games against the overmatched Giants and quarterback-less 49ers (Philadelphia knocked both of their quarterbacks out of the game) and now are on the verge of a Super Bowl title.
