Orlando acquired the guard in a trade for Aaron Gordon.
The Magic announced they waived guard RJ Hampton.
Hampton was initially the No. 24 pick in the 2020 NBA draft by the Nuggets after he played for the New Zealand Breakers instead of attending college. Hampton played in 25 games for Denver in his rookie season before the Nuggets traded him to Orlando as part of the Aaron Gordon trade in ’21.
In the second half of his rookie season, Hampton averaged over 11 points in 25 minutes per game for the Magic. Last year, he played in 64 total games for Orlando, starting 14 and averaging 7.

Louisiana State University wide receiver Malik Nabers was arrested in New Orleans on Monday evening. OutKick was able to confirm his arrest through the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Nabers, 19, was arrested around 9:00 p.m. CST on Monday evening, but he was not booked until just before 2:00 a.m. CST on Tuesday. He is charged with Illegal Carrying of a Weapon and released on late Tuesday morning on his own recognizance.
The arrest came on the eve of Fat Tuesday, as New Orleans continues to celebrate Mardi Gras all across the city.

That’s what former player-turned-pitching coach Phil Regan thinks as the 85-year-old is suing the team for alleged age discrimination.
According to TMZ, Regan’s lawsuit claims that the Mets let go of him after the 2019 season because of his age, despite Regan saying that he delivered when it came to his job performance.
Phil Regan is claiming the Mets fired him because he was getting too old.

Brandon Miller, the leading scorer for Alabama basketball, brought the gun used in the murder of 23-year-old Jamea Jonae Harris in Tuscaloosa earlier this year, according to police testimony on Tuesday.
Miller’s former teammate, Darius Miles, and Michael ‘Buzz’ Davis are facing capital murder charges over their alleged involvement in the killing.
When Miller got to the scene, Miles told Davis, “The heat is in the hat,” according to police testimony. Det. Branden Culpepper said that meant a gun was present, according to AL.com.
