The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most storied franchises in NBA history and used to winning championships and advancing far into the postseason.
They’re not used to being an underdog — especially a big one — in the first round of the playoffs.
But with Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves both sidelined for at least the first portion of Los Angeles’ Round 1 matchup with Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets with Grade 2 strains, that’s exactly where the Lakers find themselves.
The New York Yankees (8-7) return to the Bronx to open a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels (8-8) tonight aiming to snap a five-game losing streak. Tonight’s pitching matchup features Will Warren (1-0, 3.07 ERA) for the Yankees facing off against Angels’ veteran lefty Yusei Kikuchi (0-2, 6.75 ERA). Warren struck out 11 hitters in his last outing while Kikuchi has a 3.27 ERA pitching in New York against the Yankees in his career.
Despite the recent slump, the Yankees still sit tied with Tampa Bay atop the American League East.
The Boston Red Sox (6-9) open a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins (9-7). Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet (2-1, 3.12 ERA) is scheduled to start against Minnesota’s Bailey Ober (1-0, 5.27 ERA). Boston has won four its past five games, including taking two of three from the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend.

And just like that, another Masters is gone.
If you’re like me, there is a moment every Masters Sunday, amidst all the inevitable and glorious chaos, when a brief feeling of dread takes over. The golf is phenomenal, the scenes are familiar, the leaderboard is tight, but you know you’re running out of time.
Running out of time to watch the best golfers in the world play the greatest golf course in the world, and running out of time in the game called life.
One big reason why the Atlanta Falcons haven’t been back to the playoffs since 2017 is their relatively poor returns in the draft. While they hit on Bijan Robinson and Drake London, other first-round picks have either totally failed on the field like Takk McKinley, derailed their careers with off-field issues like James Pearce Jr. or come up short of expectations.
The last of those scenarios applies to tight end Kyle Pitts, who Atlanta took at No. 4 overall back in 2021. Since then Pitts has appeared in 78 games for the Falcons, putting up 284 catches, 3,579 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Rory McIlroy won the Masters on Sunday, his second straight green jacket in a row. Just think about how impossible a sentence like that sounded even 13 months ago. We live in a seriously-adjusted new reality.
