Hello! Happy holidays and welcome to the Week 17 waiver wire watch!
This is the end of the line. Championship week is here for most fantasy leagues and whether you’re gunning for the title or trying to avoid the humiliation of finishing last, your fantasy season comes down to one final matchup. We still have the Monday night showdown between the 49ers and Colts to get to this evening, but it’s not too early to start looking for ways to fortify your rosters for the grand finale.

‘His fighting spirit, his desire’ – Arteta says Arsenal star is ready for bigger role following return
Mikel Arteta says Gabriel Jesus is ready to start games again for Arsenal having recently returned from a long-term injury.
The striker was sidelined for a year with an ACL injury but has now made three appearances off the bench.
And Arteta says he is ready to play a bigger role for his side, ahead of the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace.
“Yes, he is,” the Arsenal boss responded when asked if he is ready to start.
The greatest cautionary tale in the NFL is writing off a quarterback too soon, especially when they’ve been locked in a bad situation. This weekend we saw the redemption arc begin for three of the league’s most maligned quarterbacks, with Caleb Williams, Bryce Young, and Cam Ward all soaring to three of the biggest wins of their careers so far.
For years Sunday has been unkind to Bears fans, so it’s a good thing Chicago played on Saturday night. This was one of the most significant wins this team has had in years, potentially since the won the Super Bowl.
Week 16 saw several teams clinch playoff spots, and changed the pecking order in both the NFC and the AFC.
In the NFC, we have a new team in the No. 1 spot, and just two playoff spots left up for grabs as five teams have now clinched.
In the AFC, the race for the No. 1 spot remains tight, as six teams remain alive in the chase for the bye week.
Let’s break it all down.
Sunday’s game between the Saints and Jets had no impact on playoff positioning, but there’s meaning beyond the race for the Super Bowl and the game was a particularly meaningful one for Saints tight end Taysom Hill.
Hill had four catches for 36 yards in the 29-6 win and he now has 1,002 career receiving yards. He also has 2,551 career rushing yards and 2,426 career passing yards, which makes him the first player in the Super Bowl era to have more than 1,000 yards in all three categories.
Four clubs want Ter Stegen: LaLiga and Premier League sides in mix
Marc André Ter Stegen will have to look for a new team starting in January.
The German has lost his spot in goal to Joan García and Wojciech Szczesny, who are now ahead of him, and if he wants to play in the World Cup, he’ll have to leave during the winter transfer window.
This is where possible destinations for him come into play…
According to ‘Mundo Deportivo’, Aston Villa is interested in the 33-year-old veteran.
🎯Only Real top Inter for penalties, Juve and Milan far behind😳
Inter continues to have major problems from the penalty spot. Not so much when it comes to taking them during the 90 minutes—there, Çalhanoglu takes responsibility and, aside from Napoli and Milan, he’s almost automatic—but more so when it comes to the shootout.

Chelsea eye move for 18-year-old Greek wonderkid
Chelsea plan next youth investment
Chelsea’s long view in the transfer market continues to stretch far beyond the next window. As reported by TeamTalk, the club are already positioning themselves to sign another elite young talent, with sources indicating a plan to move for Greek starlet Konstantinos Karetsas in 2026. It is a familiar strategy, rooted in patience, projection and an aggressive belief in future value.
Did you know that, with a population of 1.01 million, Jacksonville is the 10th biggest city in the United States? And that, for comparison, Denver is ranked 19th with just under 730,000?
You didn’t? Apparently, neither did Broncos head coach Sean Payton.
In the lead-up to his team’s Week 16 meeting with the Jaguars, Payton referred to his opponent as a team from a “smaller market.” While that comment in itself is rather innocent, especially considering that it was paired with him actually praising Jacksonville as “a real good team,” it was all that Liam Coen needed.
Liverpool considering move for Premier League forward after Alexander Isak blow
Injury cloud hangs over Liverpool’s January plans
Liverpool’s season, so carefully constructed at vast expense, suddenly feels fragile. As reported by The Telegraph, fears that Alexander Isak has suffered a significant injury could force the Premier League champions back into the January transfer market, despite a £350m summer splurge on attacking talent.
