NORMAN, Okla (AP) — John Mateer threw two touchdown passes, and No. 8 Oklahoma defeated No. 23 Missouri 17-6 on Saturday to inch closer to a College Football Playoff spot.
Mateer went 14 for 30 passing for 173 yards and ran for 60 yards. Isaiah Sategna caught three passes for 109 yards for the Sooners (9-2, 5-2 SEC, No. 8 CFP), who likely will make the playoff field with a win at home against LSU next Saturday.
Oklahoma held the Tigers (7-4, 3-4, No. 22 CFP) to 301 yards and shut them out in the second half.

EASTON, Mass. (AP) — Jack O’Connell threw two second-quarter touchdown passes and Stonehill’s defense forced three interceptions as the Skyhawks beat Saint Francis 20-10 on Saturday to close the season.
O’Connell finished 5 of 17 for 97 yards, but his efficiency in the red zone swung the game. He found Cody Ruff for a 24-yard score to put Stonehill (4-8, 3-4 NEC) ahead 10-7, then hit Cole Clarke from 17-yards out less than six minutes later after a short field set up the drive. Domenic Scalese added field goals from 48 and 45 yards to build a 20-7 halftime lead.

Flamengo and Palmeiras vie for best club in the world, see list
Flamengo and Palmeiras are among the nominees by the Globe Soccer Awards for the BEST club in the world award.
The two Brazilian teams, however, face TOUGH competition (see the list below).

The list of nominees also includes, among others, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and PSG.
A public vote will determine the finalists. The award ceremony will be on December 28, in the United Arab Emirates.
In 2024, Atlético-MG and Botafogo were among the finalists, but Real Madrid won the award for the best team.

Laila Phelia woke up one day last season in Austin, Texas and couldn’t see. A dark cloud had descended on her vision and panic quickly set in.
“Crazy thing is it happened, literally, in the blink of an eye,” Phelia told SB Nation. “I woke up one day and my eyelids were like a curtain — all black. Couldn’t see anything above or below. My vision was all distorted.”
Phelia rushed to an eye doctor where she was told she had a detached retina and needed emergency surgery.

The UAB football team decided to play today’s game against USF after two players from the Blazers squad were attacked and stabbed on Saturday morning inside the team’s operations building. 
According to Birmingham police, the incident took place as UAB was preparing to play South Florida, and there is a suspect in custody. 
“UAB Police and Public Safety is investigating an assault that took place this morning at the Football Operations Center. Injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. The suspect is in custody, and there is no threat to campus.
