The 2025-26 NHL regular season gets underway next week, and for the first time in years, it feels like the league is entering the year in a superb place.
They’re coming off the massive success that was the 4 Nations Face-Off and are gearing up for a return to the Winter Olympics in February. Meanwhile, the salary cap continues to go up, and the league and the NHLPA put pen to paper on a new CBA without even a threat of a work stoppage.

There are two changes made by Henning Berg from their weekend victory over Anorthosis. Francis Uzoho replaces Fabiano Freitas in between the sticks, Stefan Simič and Ioannis Kousoulos replace Mateo Maric and Muamer Tanković.
Bo Henriksen makes four changes from the defeat to Dortmund. Stefan Bell replaces Andreas Hanche-Olsen whilst Arnaud Nordin steps in for Jae-Sung Lee. There are first starts of the season for Nikolas Veratschnig and 17-year-old Kacper Potulski who is set to make his debut for the 05ers.
Denny Hamlin’s aggressiveness at Kansas will likely cost his team a car in the semifinal round of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.
As he was fighting a car that didn’t have power steering, Hamlin washed up the track while racing Bubba Wallace for the lead on the final lap. Wallace hit the wall and Hamlin’s momentum was slowed enough that Chase Elliott snuck past to get the win and an automatic ticket to the next round of the playoffs.
Wallace probably needed to get the win at Kansas to advance after a bad weekend at New Hampshire.
Cory Sandhagen can see some of the mountains he’s climbed from his vantage point at the ONX Sports gym in Golden, Colorado. Sawtooth Mountain, one of the so-called 14ers, sits gently to the northwest off the Flatirons, and the ever-popular Bierstadt is just beyond the foothills. Sandhagen is a Colorado kid. Headlined by stars like Samaya Taylor-Jenkins, the team began its dynamic run last week with a statement win over the 5A defending state champ, Canyon View. And that momentum didn’t let up this week, as the Huskies took down Shadow Ridge (Surprise, Ariz.), 58-0.
Well, we knew we’d hear from A.J. Brown at some point. He declined to comment in the locker room following the Philadelphia Eagles‘ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, but that’s when ‘you know what’ happened. As they often do, an A.J. Brown post from his X handle sent shockwaves through the NFL landscape.
Without immediate clarification from the three-time All-Pro, everyone had their theories about what he meant or was trying to communicate. Legends admonished him while a former wide receiver supported him.
It’s difficult to quantify what a colossal letdown the AFC North has been this season, and it’s not really the fault of the teams. What was billed as the league’s best, most-competitive division has devolved into total chaos as teams have a combined 7-9 record entering Week 5, rivaling only the AFC South (7-9) and NFC South (6-10) in ineptitude.
Lets dive into the stupidity of the division in 2025 by looking at some core elements to each team which make this AFC North such a spectacular, weird failure.

Just what college basketball needs, right? More teams — many of which aren’t worthy of being in the marquee postseason — getting bids because television networks and the NCAA can’t resist another money grab.
