Oklahoma State Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy does not seem to be a fan of programs with huge NIL budgets – particularly the team he’s scheduled to play on Saturday, the Oregon Ducks. 
Earlier in the week, Gundy contrasted his Cowboys’ spending with Oregon’s, strongly implying the Ducks were buying a contending team. He told reporters he’d spent “around $7 million” on players over the last three years combined.
Oregon, he said, had spent nearly $40 million in 2024 alone.
“Oregon is paying a lot, a lot of money for their team,” he said.

ATLANTA (AP) — Chris Sale pitched 6 2/3 strong innings, Ozzie Albies went 3 for 4 with an RBI and the Atlanta Braves used a three-run eighth inning to beat the slumping Seattle Mariners 4-1 on Friday night.
The Mariners, who hold the final American League wild card spot, lost for the sixth time in seven games during their current nine-game road trip.
The Braves’ outburst made a winner out of Tyler Kinley (5-3), who pitched a scoreless eighth inning.

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ offense got off to a slow start against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1, but star quarterback Patrick Mahomes made sure to get the defending AFC champions in gear on their final possession of the first half.
With less than a minute on the clock, Mahomes marched the Chiefs downfield to get veteran kicker Harrison Butker in range to score a 59-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter.
The drive included an incredible 33-yard pass from Mahomes to speedy wideout Tyquan Thornton, which helped Kansas City pick up valuable field position in a hurry.

DETROIT (AP) — Colson Montgomery homered and drove in four runs as the Chicago White Sox extended their winning streak to a season-best six games with a 7-5 win over the Detroit Tigers on Friday night.
Montgomery had an RBI single in the first inning, drove in a run with a groundout in the fifth and hit a two-run homer in the seventh.
The Tigers are 3-8 in their last 11 games.
Shane Smith (5-7) got the win, allowing four runs in five innings. Tigers starter Jack Flaherty gave up four runs in 4 1/3 innings.
