There’s only one thing worse than a team with a fired coach, and that would be a team with a coach that wants to fire but can’t, usually for financial reasons.
That seems to be the story coming out of Tallahassee, as the Florida State Seminoles have opted to retain head coach Mike Norvell for the 2026 season.
The Seminoles have all but guaranteed themselves another year in college football purgatory with this latest move, as Norvell appears to have regressed back to his mean after a couple of wild swings these last two years.
The New England Patriots game against the Cincinnati Bengals was supposed to be an intriguing quarterback matchup.
Drake Maye against Joe Flacco. The up-and-coming star versus the seasoned Super Bowl champion.
But at points, it looked like it was a battle of rookies who couldn’t throw an accurate ball more than 10 yards downfield.
Less than a minute into the second quarter, Maye dropped back to pass with a clean pocket, choosing to throw to a wide open Henry who had just bolted down the seam.
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is still getting some mileage out of Cam Newton’s diss. The two engaged in somewhat of a back-and-forth ahead of Week 12 after Newton questioned whether the Patriots are actually a good team.
Maye’s response to that: “I don’t even know what show [Newton is] on.”
That feud apparently continued Sunday, as Maye may have taken another shot at Newton. Prior to the game, Maye was approached by wideout Stefon Diggs for a pre-game handshake.
Rani Khedira: “My daughter told me I’d score today”
Rani Khedira scored his second goal of the season to help Union Berlin return home with three points from St. Pauli. The capital city club is now in eighth place after following up the Bayern draw with a hard-fought victory.
“I was on the phone with my daughter this morning,” said Khedira in his post-match interview. “She said to me that I would score a goal today. It was all the more wonderful that it actually worked out. The pure emotions in the stands after my goal remind me what’s special about football.
Derrick Henry’s legendary run continues (pun intended). A career that began with the Tennessee Titans has brought him to the Baltimore Ravens. Doesn’t it feel like he should have been here all along?
He nears the NFL’s top-ten list for the all-time leading rushers in our great game’s history. In Week 12 vs. the New York Jets, he passed Marcus Allen and Edgerrin James to land him 12th all-time. Next on his list are Marshall Faulk, Jim Brown, and Tony Dorsett.
