Home plate umpire Doug Eddings made a baffling strike call in the 11th inning of Monday’s Rangers–Diamondbacks game, and Texas’ announcers couldn’t believe it.
Rangers slugger Adolis Garcia took a pitch that looked well outside in a 1–1 count. Instead, Eddings called the pitch a strike, despite the fact that Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno had to reach all the way across the strike zone to snatch the pitch. The call elicited quite the reaction from the Rangers’ television broadcast team on Bally Sports Southwest, who couldn’t believe the pitch was called a strike.

Daly may have not won the Shaw Classic on Sunday, but he stuck around to show winner Ken Duke some love.
Former PGA Tour legend John Daly finished even par on Sunday and tied for 57th place at the Shaw Charity Classic, but he stuck around to show one of his buddies some love.
Ken Duke won his first Champions Tour event by one stroke, finishing at 14-under. He fired off a final round 4-under 66 to secure the victory.

The free agent QB has emerged the winner of the battle with Kyle Trask
A champion has emerged in the quarterback battle down in Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles announced on Tuesday that free agent passer Baker Mayfield will be the team’s starting quarterback. Mayfield, who was signed by the team this offseason, was locked in a training camp competition with Kyle Trask. The Buccaneers drafted Trask in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Commanders ended the Ravens‘ preseason winning streak on Monday, as Washington defeated Baltimore 29–28 on a late-game field goal. The loss marked the first time since 2015 that the Ravens lost a game in preseason.
While the winning streak initially didn’t mean much, it gained popularity as Baltimore kept winning preseason games to extend the streak. While most fans don’t care about the results of preseason games, Ravens games became the exception as a result.

Rays shortstop Wander Franco has been placed on administrative leave by Major League Baseball until further notice as the league continues its investigation into his alleged relationship with a minor, the league announced Tuesday.
“The administrative leave, effective immediately, is not disciplinary under the Joint Domestic Violence Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy,” the statement read. “We will comment further at the appropriate time.”

Since entering into cardiac arrest during a USC practice on July 24, Trojans guard Bronny James has increased his public engagement gradually. He reportedly went to dinner with family in the week following the incident and was filmed playing the piano by his father LeBron just days after the medical emergency. This Saturday, he went to see the Dodgers.
Late Tuesday night, however, the James family took their biggest step yet on a return to their version of normalcy.

The 6’1”, 185-pound Lewis boasted an offer list with some of the top programs in college football, including Alabama, Florida State, Georgia and Ohio State. Instead, the Carrolton, Ga., product chose to commit to a school on the West Coast in USC and play for coach Lincoln Riley, who has no shortage of quarterback success stories.
