Tommy Devito made the Giants fun again, but what does that mean for the future?
The most vivid memories of my paternal grandmother are remembered through a veneer of steam. A stout Italian woman, cloth draped over her neck, stirring a pot of sauce in a swelteringly-hot kitchen. Her wooden spoon was so old it had lost any concavity, now worn down into a flat paddle after decades of use.

Dylan Raiola is believed to be close to flipping his commitment to Nebraska. And one rabid Georgia fan has a plan to stop it from happening.
Raiola is currently committed to play for the Bulldogs, but it appears there’s been a bit of a shift in the winds for the five star QB recruit.
Word started coming out Monday that Raiola will visit Nebraska – where his dad played – and is closing in on flipping to the Cornhuskers.
If it happens, it will be the biggest win of Matt Rhule’s short time in Lincoln.
One of Italy’s greatest soccer players is hanging up his cleats mere days after closing his career by playing in an MLS Cup final.
Los Angeles FC and Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini is retiring, he announced Tuesday morning with a brief video on social media.
Chiellini, 39, was widely noted for his defensive versatility and helped bridge multiple generations of Italian soccer.
“You have been the most beautiful and intense journey of my life. You have been my everything. With you I have travelled a unique and unforgettable path,” Chiellini wrote.
Former Duke quarterback Riley Leonard announced Tuesday on social media that he intends to transfer to Notre Dame.
Leonard’s departure to South Bend marks the second signal-caller that Fighting Irish coach Marcus Freeman has landed in the transfer portal, following Sam Hartman this season. The 6’4” Leonard, who entered the transfer portal on Nov. 29, posted a video donning a white Notre Dame shirt, a blue and green Fighting Irish jacket and ultimately a green Notre Dame jersey.
“A dream come true. Go Irish,” Leonard wrote in the post.
Shohei Ohtani’s historic 10-year, $700 million contract with the Dodgers shocked the MLB world, especially when it was revealed that $680 million of that deal will be deferred without interest. That means that Ohtani will only be making $2 million a year over the next 10 years in Los Angeles in an attempt to make it easier for the Dodgers to make the team better.
While the entire world couldn’t believe that Ohtani agreed to this kind of contract structure, Ohtani’s agent Nez Balelo said that shouldn’t be the case.
St. John’s head coach Rick Pitino made Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito an offer he can’t refuse.
DeVito has become something of a celebrity, as his wild ride continued with an upset win over the Packers on Monday night at Metlife Stadium, his third straight win as the Giants starting quarterback. All the while, fans have fallen in love with the New Jersey native’s finger pinch celebration, his large Italian family, and even his ‘Italian Stallion’-looking agent.
Rob Ray is one of the toughest players in NHL history. In 15 years in the league, he racked up an astonishing 3,207 penalty minutes, the sixth most all-time. These days, Ray has a far less physical job, but it still comes with its own dangers.
Ray works as an ice-level reporter for Sabres broadcasts on MSG Network. In the third period of Monday night’s game against the Coyotes, Ray was struck by an errant puck right between his eyebrows. The incident left him bleeding from the forehead as he attempted to stop the bleeding with a towel.
Rob Ray took a puck to the face.
The civil lawsuit involving Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant and the 17-year-old he got into an altercation with during a pickup game in July 2022 going to trial is absurd. But it got underway on Monday. It’s even more ridiculous that time and resources of the city of Memphis are being used on this while violent crime is running rampant around Bluff City.
Just because the civil case appears to be a circus doesn’t mean that Morant should be looked at as some sort of victim.
Marcus Freeman locked up his second straight solid transfer QB with the commitment of Riley Leonard.
The former Duke QB entered the portal after the regular season, and there was a lot of speculation South Bend would be his next destination.
Well, that became official Tuesday morning. Leonard announced on Instagram that playing for the Fighting Irish is a “dream come true” as he takes the next step in his career.
