If Cam Newton’s goal was to get the talking heads at ESPN to talk about how horrendous his take is on Brock Purdy and other “game-manager” quarterbacks in the NFL, mission accomplished.
During a recent episode of the ‘4th & 1 with Cam Newton’ podcast, the former signal caller essentially made up a list of quarterbacks that aren’t actually “game-changers” in his opinion, but basically just dudes who manage games.
The writing is on the wall for Lions defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s return from the injured reserve.
Detroit coach Dan Campbell hinted at it on Monday. Gardner-Johnson’s return would be welcome news for the team; he hasn’t played since tearing a pectoral during the Lions’ 37–31 overtime loss to the Seahawks on Sept. 17.
On Wednesday, Gardner-Johnson turned to one of television’s most beloved shows to further hint at a comeback: The Simpsons.
During the past weekend, rumors circulated on social media that there was a physical altercation between Michigan basketball coach Juwan Howard and a member of the program’s staff.
By Sunday night, reporters covering Michigan, including The Athletic’s Brendan Quinn, debunked gossip of any punches being thrown. However, there was reportedly a confrontation that occurred between Howard and strength coach Jon Sanderson.
College basketball reporter Jeff Goodman clarified what he knew about the story based on sources he talked to during an appearance on The Field of 68 podcast.
In the year 2023 of our Lord, NFL quarterbacks Tommy DeVito and Zach Wilson were both named players of the week.
Who had THAT on their bingo card?
Hell, I don’t even know if THEY themselves believed that would ever happen. But yet, here we are heading into Week 15 with the New York Giants and New York Jets quarterbacks both coming off victories for two franchises that were all but done just a few weeks ago.
Woke up this morning….

Despite the league already sitting at 32 teams, NHL expansion seems to come up a lot. However, while there’s no shortage of interest according to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, adding expansion teams is not currently in the league’s plans.
But he wouldn’t rule it out in the future.
Bettman joined ESPN’s NHL studio team for a segment in which he would field questions from viewers.
He was hilariously welcomed to set with a recording of boos, which surely made him feel right at home.
Fresh off a miraculous comeback win against the Dolphins on Monday Night Football, Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis was feeling himself a bit on Wednesday—so much so that he appeared to pitch himself as the new face of Levi’s.
When talking to reporters, it was brought up that Levis’s last name is often autocorrected to the popular clothing company when typing it out, and he pounced at the chance to become the new face of the popular brand.
“Hey, they got a heck of a company,” Levis told reporters Wednesday. “I’m a big fan of their jeans.
Let’s get it out of the way: Browns quarterback Joe Flacco is old. He is a capital-M Millennial (with the 1985 birth certificate to prove it) in a league increasingly given over to Generation Z. He was college teammates with Larry Fitzgerald, who has been out of football for three years. FCS was still called Division I-AA when he transferred from Pittsburgh to Delaware.
However, the true measure of Flacco’s age is this: he has children old enough to provide feedback on his game.
Patrick Mahomes defended Kadarius Toney and the Chiefs’ wide receivers Wednesday.
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce addressed the incredible lateral play that wasn’t in Sunday’s loss to the Bills.
Kelce, who caught a deep pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes, threw a bullet lateral to a wide open Kadarius Toney for a long go ahead touchdown against the Bills late in the fourth quarter, but the play was called back because Toney was lined up offsides.
The controversial play sparked strong criticism of the game’s officiating from Mahomes and coach Andy Reid after the game, while Toney himself was the center of plenty of barbs for not lining up properly.
