As Jordan Love enters his first year as the Packers‘ starting quarterback, running back AJ Dillon is boldly singing Love’s praises as he replaces four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers.
“Everyone was locked into what the quarterback had to say, and you know when guys are respecting and really want to play for somebody like, ‘All right, this is what we’re doing, QB1, let’s ball,’” Dillon said, via ESPN. “It’s definitely a new era here. … I think he’s going to have a hell of a career. I’m excited to be a part of the first team to have a go at it with him.

The NASCAR Cup series stages its annual double-header with the IndyCar series this weekend, with both running on venerable Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s road course.
The Giants made a splash in the offseason by trading for tight end Darren Waller to add to their offensive weaponry. The team made the move around the same time it signed quarterback Daniel Jones to a four-year extension.
Waller immediately projects as Jones’s best receiving option, and Jones isn’t shy to admit how important an addition Waller is for New York. The quarterback explained how his confidence in Waller increased after practices began.
“I was fired up,” Jones said, via ESPN. “I was even more fired up when I saw him on the field.
If it were any other team with this QB situation, we’d have more concerns. With San Fran, many believe it will be just fine even with average play from Brock Purdy if he can stay healthy.
The Week 5 NFL matchup between the Jets and Broncos is going to be SPICY and Garrett Wilson turned things up a notch! New York and Denver already had some bad blood between them over comments made by Sean Payton earlier in the preseason and it clearly ruffled some feathers back in the Garden State.
Payton, in his first season back on the sideline since 2021, will lead a Broncos team that was largely terrible during its lone season with Nathaniel Hackett as head coach. Hackett was one-and-done after going 5-12.
Jared Goff is entering his third season as the Lions‘ starting quarterback, and coach Dan Campbell seems to be deeply committed to the former No. 1 draft pick.
Goff told ESPN he “would love to” make Goff the team’s long-term quarterback.
“There’s nothing that tells me he can’t be,” Campbell said. “When you have a quarterback you believe in, why would you ever move on? I get there are other circumstances, but it’s hard to find quarterbacks in this league. We’ve got a guy we can win with right now. We’re fortunate to have him; that’s how I see it.
Broncos coach Sean Payton established some rather interesting rules for his team in regard to preseason competition, including a ban on sunglasses, bucket hats and interviews on the sideline during games.
While the Jets beat the Panthers 27–0 on Saturday, reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson cleverly trolled Payton during his own in-game interview.
Wilson showed up to his interview wearing a Jets bucket hat and sunglasses.
Despite having another year of NCAA eligibility remaining, Hanna and Haley Cavinder chose to walk away from college basketball this offseason. The former Miami and Fresno State guards instead entered the business world.
The sisters also brought back their podcast, “Twin Talk,” and in their first episode explained why they decided to leave college basketball and forgo their fifth year of eligibility.
“We made it to the Elite Eight. That was Hanna and I’s goal,” Haley said. “Hanna didn’t want to play, so she made me quit basketball.
High school football is SO back. As the pros continue on in the preseason and colleges start to wrap up fall camp over the next few weeks, the high schoolers are back on the gridiron as soon as this week.
As the regular season approaches, many schools throughout the country took the opportunity to see some live reps against a real opponent over the weekend. Scrimmages in most parts of the country are no big deal. Parents might show out. A few students may pull up to scout their team. That’s about it.
The same cannot be said about the Southeast.
DeMarcus Ware was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame last weekend, a final milestone for the Cowboys and Broncos legend. However, the Hall seemed to favor Denver in Ware’s enshrinement, despite his being a Cowboy for a much longer period of time.
In Ware’s display, the Hall of Fame used a Broncos jersey as the main piece of memorabilia, with the only reference to the Cowboys being a football that denotes Ware as Dallas’s all-time sacks leader.
