Infamous college football villain Harvey Updyke poisoned the fabled oak trees at Auburn University in late 2010. The arborists at the university did their best to keep the trees alive, but ultimately had to remove them once it was determined they would not survive.
Two new trees were transplanted in 2015. They were replaced again two years later after catching fire.
As Auburn worked to keep the new trees healthy and thriving, one of the best traditions in sports was put on pause.

Radio host Colin Cowherd put together a list of quarterbacks drafted since 2013 who won’t be winning a Super Bowl, and his inclusion of the late Dwayne Haskins made things very uncomfortable.
It’d be tough to argue with a lot of the names on Cowherd’s list. Most seem a long way away from a Super Bowl title – either because they’re on the wrong team at the wrong time, lack some of the intangible qualities of a Super Bowl champ, or — like in the case of UCF great Blake Bortles — they’ve retired.

When listing the 20 quarterbacks he thinks “are not getting to a Super Bowl,” Cowherd included former Commanders and Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who died in April 2022.
“And then the third category is 20 guys who are not getting to a Super Bowl and certainly not winning it. And that’s everybody else.
