It was a solid 2023 for the folks at Penske Racing, between IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden winning the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Blaney taking home the championship just last month.
Speaking of which, Newgarden was true to his word and got a tattoo of Blaney just like he said he would if the No. 12 car was able to bring the organization another championship.
Blaney delivered, and now so did Newgarden.
Ahead of the NASCAR Cup Series Championship, the reigning Indy 500 champ told Blaney that he’d get his face tattooed on his thigh if he came out victorious.

With Zach Lavine’s name heavily involved in trade rumors, the Bulls star’s time with the team may soon be coming to an end.
But the guard’s prospects of landing with a new team currently appear to be dire despite the ongoing speculation, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Wojnarowski addressed LaVine’s future in Chicago during ESPN’s NBA Today on Friday, where the senior NBA insider offered a brutally honest update on the injured veteran’s value in the trade market and the factors that could prevent a deal.

Woods scored better Friday at the Hero World Challenge but is still rusty as he gets back into the swing of professional golf.
The golf world watched as Tiger Woods improved on Friday at the Hero World Challenge.
While it was far from perfect, he fired off a 2-under 70, five shots better than his 75 from Thursday.
After such a tough first round, it was anyone’s guess as to what Woods would do on the course.
“It was better than yesterday, for sure. I’ve been more committed than I was yesterday.

Titans defensive tackle Jaleel Johnson had a November to remember.
On Nov. 12 and 19, Johnson played for Tennessee in road losses to the Buccaneers and Jaguars. On Nov. 21, the Titans cut him. And on Wednesday, Tennessee signed him to its active roster once more.
All of this took place in spite of the fact that Johnson criticized the Titans on social media almost immediately after his Nov. 21 release.

Golden State Warriors guard Andrew Wiggins got injured in a rather unlikely way on Thursday morning.
Just hours before his team’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Wiggins hurt the index finger on his shooting hand. It didn’t get dislocated while he was guarding an opponent, and he wasn’t lifting a crazy amount in the weight room either.
The guard jammed his finger while shutting a car door, and missed Thursday night’s game as a result. That’s about as anticlimactic as it gets.

Andrew Wiggins slammed a car door on his right index finger this morning.

Good one to kick off Week 13 last night, and some monster games on the slate for the weekend. Lots to chew on …
• There was a point over the summer when Dak Prescott had thrown a bunch of training camp interceptions. My visit to Cowboys camp in Southern California was in the midst of that, and it gave me something to dive into with coach Mike McCarthy when he and I sat down for a couple of hours in his suite at the team’s hotel/makeshift facility.
As you’d expect, McCarthy defended Prescott by explaining there was a method to what was happening in late July and August.

Fresh off winning their fourth consecutive game, quarterback Dak Prescott and the 9-3 Cowboys continue to search for their respect around NFL circles.
On Friday’s episode of ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith questioned Dallas’ potential playoff success while also calling every team the surging Cowboys have beaten at home this season as “scrubs.”
“What I am pointing to is not just the road, but the level of competition that they went against on the road and the level of competition that is going to be waiting for them come playoff time,” said Smith.
