Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry got his name on the scoresheet in Thursday night’s win over the Lightning, as he managed to bury a goalie goal from across the ice into Tampa Bay’s empty net.
With Pittsburgh looking to maintain its 3–2 lead, the Lightning opted to pull Andrei Vasilevskiy in favor of a sixth skater. With the opposing net open, Jarry unleashed a snipe from in front of his own goal. The puck soared past every Tampa skater on the ice and bounced directly into the goal.

Knicks center Mitchell Robinson has a special bond with his high school basketball coach William “Butch” Stockton.
Stockton told the story of how the unlikely duo became roommates this NBA season while attending Thursday night’s Knicks vs. Pistons game.
Stockton’s wife died in September. While she was sick in the hospital, Robinson visited every day he could, and the former coach and player became even closer than they already were.
After Stockton’s wife’s funeral, Robinson proposed the idea for Stockton to come live in New York with him while he grieved.

Reed Ryan, the 22-year-old college defensive end who died on Tuesday after a sudden collapse, will be honored by his university all weekend.
Ryan’s death shook the University of Minnesota Duluth community. The senior football player collapsed during a weightlifting session on campus last week. Ryan spent three seasons at North Dakota State before transferring to UMD for the 2023 season.
The player received medical attention at Essentia Health in Duluth — passing away a week later.

During Thursday night’s primetime battle between the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks, safety DaRon Bland gave up an easy 73-yard touchdown to Seahawks DK Metcalf in the first quarter.
Michaels showed up to work Thursday night. He put out a personal highlight after criticizing Bland for his broken coverage and questioning NFL voters for picking Bland as November’s Defensive Player of the Month.
It was a well-timed diss by Michaels.

The NFL is dominating TV ratings this season. That’s usually the case, but this year the numbers are even more impressive.
NFL Media released a post on social media with the numbers through Week 12 of the season. NFL games account for a whopping 71 of the 75 most-watched TV programs since September.
Games average 18 million viewers per game, the largest number since 2015.

NFL defenses have been trying, and failing, to prepare for Patrick Mahomes since the Chiefs‘ quarterback began taking over the league in 2018.
It’s a tough task for any coach, and this week, the burden of preparation falls on Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry.
