The fallout from Florida State University continues as now Florida governor Ron DeSantis is prepared to throw $1 million behind any potential litigation against the College Football Playoff Selection Committee.
DeSantis announced the plan Tuesday and is officially part of the state’s 2024-25 fiscal year budget. According to the Tampa Bay Times, the governor said the funds would be used for “any litigation expenses that may come as a result of this really, really poor decision by the College Football Playoff to exclude an undefeated team.”
Sure enough, this plan is in the budget.

No news is good news.
Teams interested in signing Shohei Ohtani are being given a very clear warning: Leak info at your own peril.
With mystery swirling around which team will manage to land the superstar in free agency there’s a clear desire from the Ohtani camp to keep everything under wraps until they’ve made a final decision. Ken Rosenthal wrote about the latest details in the race for Ohtani in The Athletic, and it contained this detail about the no-blabbing clause.
“It is not known whether Ohtani is close to a deal with any team.
Promoter Eric Garcia’s phone started ringing just seconds after Robelis Despaigne’s wicked knockout. It was UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard.
The Lakers and Suns will meet in the knockout round of the NBA in-season tournament on Tuesday, with a trip to the semifinals in Las Vegas on the line. Phoenix will have both Kevin Durant and Devin Booker on the floor but will be without its third star, as Bradley Beal will miss his 18th consecutive game due to lower back issues.
And while Los Angeles coach Darvin Ham is undoubtedly fine with not having to see the Suns’ “three-headed monster,” he had plenty to say about the tall task of containing Durant and Booker.
Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito will remain the team’s starter for Monday night’s game against the Packers, even as veteran Tyrod Taylor returns to practice this week, coach Brian Daboll told reporters on Tuesday. It will be DeVito’s fourth consecutive start.
DeVito began the season as New York’s third-string quarterback, but became the primary backup to Taylor, who was elevated as the starter in October when Daniel Jones hurt his neck. Even once Jones returned to the lineup in early November, DeVito remained the backup when Taylor went on injured reserve for a rib issue.
Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has a high sprain of his right ankle, coach Doug Pederson said Tuesday.

Very often, when an entire pregame show panel picks one team to win, it’s a bad sign. That ended up being the case Monday night with the Bengals pulling off an inspired 34–31 overtime win.
Tom Brady closed the book on his Hall of Fame NFL career with his second retirement in February, but he recently teased a return to the league … of sorts.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion caught wind of Chad Ochocinco’s suggestion of a “Current vs. Past” Pro Bowl game on ESPN’s ManningCast on Monday night, and Brady apparently already has some ideas about roster building.
Brady retweeted the ManningCast video and said, “With today’s rules? Give me Chad and Randy on the outside and we’re putting up 35 next week.
