The Timberwolves have been rolling through the first few weeks of the 2023–24 NBA season, and Minnesota had a chance to become the third team to clinch a spot in the quarterfinals of the NBA in-season tournament at home Friday night.
But the Kings spoiled that plan, defeating the Western Conference leaders, 124–111, to remain undefeated in Group C. But that wasn’t the only failure that took place at the Target Center.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The Game is here. No. 2 Michigan and No. 3 Ohio State meet today at the Big House in a massive college football matchup.
OutKick’s Trey Wallace is at the stadium to write and report, and Joe Kinsey is there documenting his experience as a fan. (Jim Harbaugh is not there, in case you haven’t heard. But Ryan Day is!) Here are a few of the pictures from the wild scenes in the tailgating lots and inside the stadium for the game.

Utah State entered Friday night’s game at New Mexico needing a win to become bowl eligible, but the Aggies needed two overtimes to take down the Lobos. When Utah State needed a big play, it was quarterback Levi Williams who came to the rescue, although in very unorthodox fashion.
After New Mexico kicked a field goal to take a three-point lead in the second overtime, Utah State had the chance to win the game with a touchdown.
Rumors continue to swirl about who will be the next football coach at Texas A&M. And a surprising name has just been thrown into the mix: Ohio State head coach Ryan Day.
The Aggies are searching for a new leader after Jimbo Fisher was fired earlier this month. And according to FOX’s college football insider Bruce Feldman, A&M could very well pursue Day after Saturday’s showdown against arch-rival Michigan.
If, that is, Ohio State loses to the Wolverines.
“The Aggies I think are optimistic that if they don’t win The Game, that Ryan Day might be open to their pitch.
Texas A&M has its eyes on a big name to run its football program, with apparent interest in Ohio State coach Ryan Day, according to Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports and The Athletic.
The Aggies have interest in speaking to Day about replacing Jimbo Fisher, who was fired Nov. 12, Feldman reported on Saturday morning’s episode of Big Noon Kickoff. Texas A&M’s ability to speak with Day likely depends heavily on the result of the Buckeyes’ game against archrival Michigan on Saturday.
If No. 2 Ohio State (11–0, 8–0 Big Ten) beats the No.
Andy Cole held the record previously by reaching 50 goals in 65 Premier League games.
The NFL TV company TCL is on the hook for over $1 million worth of TVs thanks to Jevon Holland returning a pick 99 yards for a score in Friday’s Dolphins-Jets game.
What a way to start a Saturday! Imagine waking up to THAT little bill. Not great!
NFL TV sponsor @TCL_USA said before this game they would give away $1M worth of big screen TVs if there was a 98+ yard touchdown in this game.
I’m checking the fine print to see if they specify that distance from scrimmage.
Albert Einstein famously said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
According to this logic, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson may be insane.
Once again Johnson’s stubbornness and refusal to listen to NFL players, who are screaming about how bad MetLife Stadium’s turf is, has ruined another player’s season.
During the third quarter of Friday’s Dolphins vs Jets matchup, Miami’s star pass rusher Jaelan Phillips suffered a non-contact Achilles injury that resulted in him being carted off the field.
Manchester City forward Erling Haaland made history on Saturday, becoming the fastest player to score 50 goals in his Premier League career with a goal against Liverpool. Haaland set the record in 48 games, smashing the previous mark of 65 games set by Andrew Cole in the 1990s with Newcastle.
Haaland is only in his second EPL season, having made the move following five seasons in the Bundesliga last year. The 23-year-old striker scored 36 goals in 35 games for Manchester City in his first season with the team and has picked up where he left off with 14 goals in 13 games this season.
The Warriors guard returned to the court, and delivered a moment fans will remember
Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II returned to action on Friday night, after missing a few games with a foot injury.
That gave him a chance to deliver a moment on the defensive end that the guard will likely never forget.
Payton, who has been a standout on the defensive end for the Warriors so far this season, was back in action Friday night against the visiting San Antonio Spurs, and rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama.
