There was a raging debate this past spring across the NFL media landscape: Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud. The two college quarterbacks appeared to be head and shoulders above their peers in the 2023 NFL draft class, but the Panthers made the decision to take Young with the No. 1 pick. After all, it doesn’t get much better than a Heisman winner out of Alabama, right?
Turns out, the Texans are pretty happy they got Stroud with the No. 2 pick as well.
After four weeks, Stroud has distanced himself from Young and his rookie peers.

Former Pro Bowl safety Rodney Harrison is under fire for comments he made during NBC’s Sunday Night Football postgame show about Jets quarterback Zach Wilson.
Harrison and the rest of the NBC crew had Chiefs star defensive lineman Chris Jones on set, and the conversation quickly got to Wilson, who had a surprisingly strong performance in the loss to Kansas City.
The questions from Harrison about Wilson were very harsh though, seemingly trying to bait Jones into being critical of the former No. 2 overall pick.

C.J. Stroud is hitting Texans WRs perfectly in stride, and it’s taking the offense to the next level
Hope is a powerful emotion.
Just ask Houston Texans fans.
A year ago, the Texans floundered to a 3-13-1 finish, and the only hope that could be found came via the dreams of the offseason. Armed with the second-overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Texans had the chance to turn their fortunes around.
With that pick they added quarterback C.J. Stroud from Ohio State.
Can anyone beat Canelo Álvarez?
He doesn’t think so. “Nobody can beat this Canelo,” Álvarez said minutes after a lopsided decision win over Jermell Charlo. This Canelo is a healthy Canelo, one that’s rested (after fighting four times in 11 months en route to collecting all four super middleweight belts, Álvarez is back to a twice-per-year schedule) and healthy, with his surgically repaired hand at full strength. This Canelo, at 33, believes he is still at the top of his game.
He may be right.
Xander Schauffele is the No. 6 ranked player in the world and earned an automatic qualifying spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team, but according to his father, he was nearly booted from the team just weeks before the event over a dispute involving Netflix of all things.
Two weeks before the start of the Ryder Cup in Rome it was widely reported that Netflix would not be given full access to the U.S. team room to capture footage for the upcoming season of ‘Full Swing.’ On the surface, it seemed like no big deal, as it was understandable that the U.S. team didn’t want any sort of distraction.
Patrick Mahomes went into the Chiefs’ Week 4 Sunday Night Football matchup against the Jets with 199 career touchdown passes, and it didn’t take him long to make NFL history in the prime-time affair.
Mahomes found a wide-open Noah Gray for a 34-yard touchdown pass late in the first quarter to reach 200 touchdown passes in the fewest games in league history.
The Chiefs star broke Dan Marino’s record by reaching the mark in just his 84th game. Marino threw his 200th touchdown pass in his 89th game career game back in 1989.
The stage is set for Major League Baseball’s postseason, and here are the latest World Series odds. In dramatic fashion, though all playoff teams were decided on Saturday, it came down to the very last day of the season for seeding to be decided. The Orioles and Astros will have first-round byes after winning their AL divisions, while the Braves and Dodgers secured byes in the National League. The AL Central division-winning Twins and the NL Central division-champion Brewers will compete with home-field advantage vs. the sixth-seeded Blue Jays and Diamondbacks, respectively.

Their seasons are going poorly. Are they salvageable? It depends what level of salvage is considered acceptable.
Florida (12) has put two dispiriting, never-close losses around that stirring victory over Tennessee. The Gators are a bad road team (0–2, outscored by 32 points, trailed by double digits at halftime of both).
Week 5 was a little light on drama, but there are always storylines to be found in every game. But digging into Week 5’s notable results, we here at SI are determined to find the answer to the question: Which team does the final score say more about?
USC 48, Colorado 41 says more about: USC
There’s just no way around it. If USC is going to play defense like this, it’s not a viable national championship contender—and it might not even be a viable Pac-12 championship contender.
Don’t try it at home, kids.
The Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons played in Wembley Stadium to start off Sunday’s slate in Week 4, but having the game in London wasn’t the only gimmick. The game was broadcast as the “Toy Story Funday Football” game on ESPN+, an animated simulcast of the game set in Andy’s bedroom from the iconic Pixar movie.
The “Toy Story” broadcast was mostly fun and good even if it was a bit glitchy, as our Mark Schofield detailed in his review.
