Illinois football announced it is hiring former Wisconsin interim head coach Jim Leonhard as a senior football analyst.
Leonhard was a longtime safety who went to college at Wisconsin and played 10 seasons in the NFL. After retiring in 2016, Leonhard joined Wisconsin as a defensive backs coach, and he was promoted to defensive coordinator just a year later.
In 2023, Wisconsin promoted Leonhard to interim head coach midseason after firing Paul Chryst in October. As head coach, Leonhard led Wisconsin to a 4–3 regular season record and a bowl game win in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl vs.

He has been cleared to practice following his elbow injury, and will not start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

Cowboys star offensive lineman Zack Martin reportedly did not show up to the start of training camp amid his discontent over his current contract situation, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Martin, who has earned All-Pro honors in eight seasons, including six selections to the NFL’s First-Team All-Pro, previously threatened to sit out training camp as he looks to get compensated in line with his production on the field.
Under his current deal, Martin is due to make $13.5 million in 2023, including a $1.7 million base salary.

The Browns’ addition of wide receiver Elijah Moore caught plenty of attention this offseason. Now with training camp underway, it appears Moore’s presence and playmaking ability has caught the attention of his teammates, as well.

Kansas offensive lineman Joe Krause was arrested Monday on charges of an “aggravated criminal threat” that “[caused] terror, evacuation or disruption,” per the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Lawrence, Kan.
The arrest came hours after a bomb threat was called into the Jayhawks’ football facilities, drawing a police response that resulted in the safe evacuation of all present.
“We are aware of a situation involving one of our student-athletes,” a Kansas spokesperson said in a statement. “We take the safety of our staff, student-athletes and coaches very seriously.
